You have no competition, you have no room for improvement and you become complacennt when one person holds the monopoly. Less options. Competition will always be good imo

Plenty of companies have become complacent in the video game business despite never holding a monopoly, so the existence of competition really hasn't helped.

Besides, video games are entertainment, so even a monopoly couldn't act as it pleases. If the offered product is deemed no good or too expensive by the market at large, then even a monopoly would have to bow to the power of disinterest in order to survive.

Existing of competition has helped and I will continue believing this because without competition, you wouldnt have some of the titles you see today in the gaming industry. Competition fueled creativity in the gaming industry and made it what it was today. You're free to disagree with that and I 100% respect it, but that's how I personally feel about it

I have to agree with Rol here ,in regards to Nintendo, it's not like where talking about a monopolistic power utility or equivelant, where opting out is not a viable alternative , having more than one player in a sector doesn't always lead to more competion especially if they or the public sees enough differentiation between them , also the word duopoly wasn't coined for no reason .
I like you believe that it is usually better for the consumer to have choice but the choice has to be a competive one.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

I think the vita launched as a legacy platform to be honest...

Wait....

Does this mean no Gravity Rush 2?

Nintendo buy the franchise so I can play it.

Wasnt last gen much higher than usual rather than this gen being much lower?

Well, the 3DS and Vita combined won't touch GBA sales. So it's definitely a smaller market, as there is the N-Gage, Wonderswan and Neo Geo Pocket to add to the GBA sales for that generation.

The 8-Bit Gameboy models sold over 115m units, the GameGear sold over 10m units. So although yes, last gen was the biggest handheld gen ever, This is looking like the worst one since handheld became a thing.

So its pretty much one extreme to the next.

I think we may have to wait to next gen to see if the market is dead.

I would assume that it will be the ps4 then. There were rumours before that said that Gravity Rush 2 was made for the ps4 and this confirms it further (if its being made at all that is)

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It makes senses to call it that. All handhelds are legacy systems at this point.

I'll get 1 with a massive price drop.

And in a few years they will be calling there vr thing a legacy item

Am I the only one that thinks its a sad state of affairs?
That mobiles kill the handhelds? I dont get why the vita doesnt sell more (apart from its price), its a great system.

Vita had no chance,we fans hoped so. I'll go pick up a PSP and Vita since I doubt Sony will port anymore PSP games to it.

I hope PSTV fares better
