Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should Zelda U = NX Masterquest edition?

i say 2 years because a new home console has been out every 5-6 years since n64.

and it wouldn't take to long to add some features to an already made game.

It's 5 years. Since N64 only the Wii has a 6 years life span, but dead after the 4th one (2010). Wii U is not in the same position as it has sold 1/10 of the Wii. So no, nothing points to a homeconsole until 2017. This is not the same situation as before, even the GameCube sold a lot better.

And I'm tired of remakes. They have to release new content.

well i understand that, and since its 2015 I'm saying a possible "masterquest edition" could be on the NX.

I'm kinda sick of seeing threads that have Zelda U and NX in the same post.

The sad part of this is if the NX is a home console, this is very possible and the next Zelda will do what Twilight Princess did.

What's sad about that? More people playing the game and Nintendo making more money is sad?

I think people need to wake up a bit too. The situation with NX is pretty dire for Nintendo. If it isn't successful they are probably done as a hardware maker IMO.

They need to do everything possible to make it a success, I'm sorry if there's a whiny portion of the Wii U userbase that is upset that they don't get exclusive dibs on a game, but as long as they get the game, my POV is simply this -- give it a rest and try to understand BUSINESS realities. Nintendo isn't a charity or a good will organization. Really. Nintendo needs to do what's best for them as a company, if the game still is coming to the Wii U, then seriously, this is just a sad amount of complaining over nothing.

We've seen the reaction this week towards the developers of Project Cars for deferring their game to the NX. This was a game that was going to sell maybe 50k copies on the Wii U and pretty much nobody cared about before this week. If Nintendo makes a similar announcement for Zelda U, possibly their most anticipated title in the last decade, the outcry will be a 1000 times worse. Hundreds of thousands of people will boycott the NX just to get back at Nintendo for doing this. It would be one of the most bone-headed moves that Nintendo has ever made.

I think Nintendo is smart enough to know just how dependent they are right now on the loyalty of their hardcore fans. The Wii days are over and alienating the fans that are paying their bills by making Zelda U an NX game is just crazy.

I LOL cause someone thinks NX will be a console/handheld

PSN : DarkLong213

No one cares about Wii U anymore, NX is the logical destination for the game.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

If this happens to be the case, the Wii U will be the first Nintendo console to not get it's own Zelda game, it'll be the first console to have a shared Zelda game only.

And the only ones to blame are Nintendo. They decided to focus on remakes and spinoffs rather than using all those developers to finish soon the game. The Wii U sales are also, in some part, consequence of the unexciting software for the masses. The correct Zelda could have sold very good, and maybe even pushed a little more consoles. Now they are in a corner where releasing the project only on the current console will be a big waste of time and money.

That's part of the disscussion I've been trying to have here, they are taking too long, mismanagement is evident and games are sending to dead on arrival. This looks like another Skyward Sword situation where the fanbase has moved and game will bomb hard (for Zelda expectations).

There are only 2 logical financial ways: release on Wii U and NX, or release on Wii U with a huge amiibo lineup, DLC and special editions, with demos on the Symphony of the Goddesses.

There's really nothing wrong with the game being "shared" though IMO.

Nintendo platforms often go cycles without main IP. The N64 didn't get a Metroid. The GameCube didn't get a Donkey Kong Country. The Wii didn't get a F-Zero/Wave Race type EAD racer. I get it Zelda is held in a big esteem by its fan base but the Wii U will still get the game.

The other thing is it really worth it to have the game sell poorly stuck on the Wii U? It's a limited user base obviously, if it's the best Zelda ever for example it would be a damn shame if its stuck on the worst selling Nintendo console. It also probably won't sit well with Nintendo's sales department given that it probably is the most expensive game Nintendo's ever made.

Or, Zelda still sells it's 4 million units it ususally does, on Wii U. Sales aren't lost. If MK8 and Smash can get 4 million sales on a 10 million console. Zelda sure can.

If NX is a home console then it could be a valid move. I mean, let's say they release Zelda in 2016 and NX in 2017, so when the next Zelda for home consoles would be released? 2019, 2020? I think they need Zelda in the first years of life of the new console. They shouldn't do the same mistake they did with Zelda on Wii U (late release).
