Forums - Gaming Discussion - I was wrong about 8th gen.

I think 8th Gen graphics are:

Mind-blowing! 24 5.70%

clearly better than 7th gen. 151 35.87%

not a big jump, the systems need more power. 165 39.19%

diminishing returns. 54 12.83%

making me miss 8-bit! 26 6.18%

Total:420

Thank you. It is obvious.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Many games gave us great clouds and sky, good far away object in 7th gen. Now in 8th gen, we are getting better close up details and I find it really grows on you.

Actually the skies in Witcher 3 are the most amazing part to me. Sunsets and the weather are breath taking with the way the light chances the environment. The biggest change this gen is that everything moves. Games nowadays look a lot better in motion and screenshots don't really do them justice anymore. Day/night cycles and weather look so much better than last gen. Worlds are really coming to life.

I'm not impressed yet, but it's clearly a big step above PS3/360. So far, DriveClub, inFamous and The Order wowed me.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I'm impressed with the graphical capabilities of the PS4/XB1, but it's still perceivably the smallest graphical gen-to-gen leap the industry has seen IMO.

I would probably agree with this, but the new systems have really surprised with graphical advances that are still very perceivable even if they are less perceivable than jumps like 8bit to 16.

I jump between all consoles fairly regularly and I notice an improvement but I have only been impressed a couple of times--Ryse and The Order. Aside from that, it's just games to me. I may never be truly blown away ever again.

Ah, thanks I was going to ask about the Skies in Witcher 3.  I remember the epic ones in Red Dead and Skyrim (and even Twilight Princess was an improvement.)

Yea, I was thinking how 5th gen gives you some 3D, 6th gen add you trees and such, 7th gen grasses and shrubs with those tress, then 8th gen you get the texture on the bark of the trees, and little critters going to the flowers, in addition to an extra flush of everything - the wind blows and move like you said.

Anyone who thinks this is a tiny leap doesn't remember generations 2-5.  Plus we are at the begging of the gen - look at early last gen games compared to the ones they have now.  That looks like a whole gen in itself.

It’s also something that once you have lived with one for a while it really hits you when you go back.  Even a simple game like ‘Max and the Curse of the Brotherhood.'  It is so smooth.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

ps4 is 10 times more powerful than the ps3.... with the exception of kz sf and second son I haven't seen devs push ps4 to the brink of potential..... since all we have been getting are AAA remasters of last gen ip

smallest jump in console history

Well there is the wii to wii u and DS to 3ds :P

I've played a few Xbox one games and honestly not blown away. Now to be fair I haven't played call of duty for the Xbox one.
