I haven't made a thread on here in a while, but this place is still great.  So I decided to make one and it's a confesssion:

I was wrong about gen 8 graphics.

I had said for some time that PS4 and XBox One didn't represent a big graphical jump or that it wasn't clearly noticible.  Then, I received an XBox One for Christmas this year and my mind was blown.  The polish, the detail, the lighting, the character models.  It represents a clear and easily noticible improvement over the already great-looking PS3 and XB360.  You don't need to pick out details or look for things.  It's right in your face.  From the first time I played Advanced Warfare and had a fellow soldier in an in-game scene talking to me, I felt foolish for questioning the value and impact of these new computer boxes.  Both One and 4 are excellent and represent a significant jump from their predecessors.

What do you think?  Do the visuals impress you?  Did they surprise you?

It is certain things, like the detail in draw distance and facial animation in Infamous really stood out from anything I saw before. I get people not seeing the massive jump like PS1 to PS2, but there is definitely an improvement and plenty of time for games to look even better this generation.

It looks sexy enough for me. Judging by other gens it will only get better with time. 

Forza horizon 2 is beautiful so is ryse

I can't really say I've been''impressed'' this gen by the consoles. Sure things look ''slightly'' better but nothing drastic for me. It's just ''ok'' as far as my verdict goes

Shame you couldn't play Driveclub, that games has truely insane graphics and polish. Beats Pcars ass on that front. The difference is also very noticeable in big open world like Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition.

Xone exclusives no doubt look fantastic too.

I didnt notice until i went back to play Yakuza 4 after playing the Yakuza 0 Demo on ps4.

It looks so blurry on ps3

I've been very impressed with XBox One all around. It's a great system. I was pretty harsh on it upon it's initial reveal, too, so it's done a great job of winning me over. Everything about it is an improvement over last gen. The controller, the interface, the ease of use. And there are lots of great games... and great sales on the games.

inFamous Second Son was a real eye-opener in how much better these consoles are. Incredible how good an open-world game looked so early in the gen.

Destiny is another title that looks exceptionally shiny and vivid in its visuals. Very nice.
