Forums - Sony Discussion - Andrew House admits that the PS4s first party line-up this year is "a little sparse"

Nintendo is the only console that has really been getting a lot of support from their developers. Granted, not many 3 parties either.
Sony and Microsoft both have been lacking in 1st party games. However I'm happy with what I have gotten so far....
Sony:
Bloodborn
Infamous Second Son
Driveclub
Little Big Planet 3
The Order
Killzone
MLB
Last of Us

XBONE:
Sunset Overdrive
DR 3

(Honestly don't care Forza, to repetitive for my taste, been 3 already by year end

At least he admitted its a problem, so that means he'll more than likely get it fixed so win win

tearaway is probably the best game coming out on nexgen tho

I honestly thought this was Sony's plan of attack for this gen.

Make Indie game developers the middle tier companies from the PS2 era, that vanished from last gen. By keeping a stream of new content, it will whet the appetites of consumers, and pacify them enough if AAA titles are ever delayed.

Up until they made the announcement awhile back that they were going to invest more into the games division. I thought they wanted to cut back on some of their studios since Shuhei admitted that most of their games while being praised artistically, do not sell well.

This strategy seems to be working for most of the hardcore, but maybe with the recent dip in sales in the US, the general public is not buying it anymore.

I think Sony will be fine, this is more of a speedbump in their plans than a road block. No doubt though they are going to lose ground to Microsoft this Holiday.

Also it's a shame that Zelda got delayed for the WiiU. It would have made the holiday numbers way more interesting.

Good thing i didn't buy a PS4 for 1st party-games

But does this mean the won't be anything new at E3 for this year either? I was atleast expecting a new GT prologue and maybe a new playstation all-stars or modnation racer or something like that. LBP3 was announced at E3 last year to right?

There will be the Uncharted Collection and there will be no GT prologue this time.

Same. In fact, other than Souls (Demon Souls and Bloodborne), not a lot of Sony's first party actually interests me. Unless they announce LoD2 or that Guerilla Games RPG looks great, Sony's first party was never the reason I bought a PS4. I will agree that they needed a big Holiday game or two for the year, more for perception's sake rather than sales. Guess we'll wait for E3.

Uncharted collection is nothing, might sell ok but won't keep the current PS4 momentum going. They can't seriously think that this is enough for a second year/holiday after launch? PS4 will be overrun by XOne in the U.S., NPD already hade XOne slightly ahead last month. And lose a lot of momentum worldwide.

The PS4 is not going to be overrun or lose significant (if any) momentum because of this, they have enough measures they can take to stop that from happening without releasing a significant first party game this holiday season. It does annoy me as a PS4 owner though that they're so far behind on internal next gen development, even if some people on here love to deny that.
