Just like a pricecut, it's not really needed for Sony yet. Putting money in 3rd party support is far more valuable.

Its needed to make more money

Why?

Look at the best selling games list of any Sony platform. 3rd party in one word. And let's not forget that sony themselves said that only 1/4 games make money for them.

Totally agree

There's certainly room for improvement, but I think the PS4's 1st party line up is pretty good so far.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

It's funny an executive admits it, but the fans say otherwise.

Also why isn't sony held accountable for the promised 12 new ip and 20 games within the first year?

I have to agree with the executive.

We had bloodborne. Anything else worth mentioning? I dont see how anyone can disagree with the guy unless they have pink sunglasses with rainbow farting unicorns.

Sony could not release another first party game for the rest of the generation and win without issue. They have no worries.

A little sparse is putting it kindly. I don't own any Sony 1st party PS4 games and I don't think I'll buy one until Uncharted 4 I guess, unless they announce something amazing at E3. To me, that's crazy. Uncharted 4 will be well over two years after launch.

This OP is practically begging us to put all kinds of silly 'still waiting for greatness memes'

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

What's the tally at now?

Why isn't MS held accountable for flatout lying with their Kinect marketing? That's a dangerous road you're trying to go down there.

Oh and I hope you remember that MS also promised 15 X1 exclusives and 8 new IPs in the first year of the X1, which unless you count games also on 360 as exclusive (let alone games also on PC) they didn't do either.

That's the difference, MSFT has been held accountable constantly. nothing dangerous about it. MSFT said you can flip the flip and unbundle kinect, they unbundled it, but it took a few months. Also they are  still to this day trying to come up with ways to make XB1 function as well without kinect. Snapping, recording.... and many other times are not as fluid without kinect.

Yoshida on the other hand flat out lied, he knew darn well they didn't have that mnay games ready for the first year.

I'll put my edit in this comment as well:

And like I said MS also flat out lied with the marketing of the ORIGINAL kinect and they were never held accountable for that.
