Forums - Gaming Discussion - I've come to realize that the "Souls" games and Bloodborne are terrible games...

"Well, guess what? Right back to the beginning."

You'd hate old games from NES days...

Personally, I think Bloodborne is one of the best games of this generation so far.

Nah, I'm 33 years old. Nothing trumps NES! But we didn't worry about those things back then.

If you loved games on NES, which are entirely about dying and starting levels over, then your complaints about Bloodborne are covering up for the real reason you dislike it.

Or it could be that expectations of games and how they perform are tempered to the times in which they are created.  An autosave feature wasn't prevalent in the NES days like it is today.  To fault a game in 2015 for not having one is not at all the same as not faulting a game made when it didn't exist.

I agree that inFAMOUS was a much better game than the critics have it credit for. It's currently the only PS4 game I Platinum'd.

Dislike DriveClub, but I'm not going to disagree with you on that because I just won't play racing games that aren't Mario Kart or Gran Turism, and I can't say whether or not it's actually good.

I would not agree that either of them are better than Bloodborne, though.

Well you obviously have very different tastes from mine. I don't consider Bloodborne nearly as good as you, but I wouldn't say you're wrong cause that's your opinion. I played it for a few hours and managed to beat the first boss by putting a lot of effort, and I just didn't enjoy it enough till that point to really feel that my efforts were put to good use. I loved the atmosphere though.

Glad we agree on Infamous: Second Son, its one of those games which really doesn't get mentioned much anywhere despite being an incredible game. Driveclub is more of a personal taste, probably because I love racing games of all kinds.

I loved Bloodborne from the get-go. The design, premise, and weapons were all fantastic, and I was eager to find out what was going on with the story.

And I think all of the inFAMOUS games are underrated. I remember people losing their shit over a new game on PS3, calling it the best ever, and totally forgetting the fact that inFAMOUS 2 was 98% of perfect compared to the game in question's 95% perfection. I mean, I haven't played an inFAMOUS that want just awesome.

@OP
if the level of frustration is getting to you that early BloodBourne, finding no redeeming features and you are not willing to push a little further/harder; just sell it.
If you think that part's terrible, you'll really hate places like the forbidden woods and Mensis area.
much better you give up now or you'll land up like me; hating it so much that (like I said in a previous post somewhere) I've now got +200 hours and counting on that game.

Except this is a game that is part of a unforgiving series that makes it apparent from start to finish that you will be dying and retracing a lot. So moot point.

I think Infamous 1 was overrated a bit, but Infamous 2 and Second Son are much better. I don't consider any of these games even close to perfection though, as they all have some glaring flaws, but still Second Son is better than most games released on current-gen consoles.

Or... Standards are different today than back then. If we had to shake cartridges side to side, blow in them, etc. today everyone would go apesh!t. Back then we accepted it as a reality.

Wow, a message board Mercenary. You're 1 in a million. So, I guess there aren't any games you don't like? I mean, every game has its detractors. Why are fans of these games so upset that some people may feel differently? Well, not all fans. Seems you're the only one who's butthurt over it.

Well here is the thing I do not think the issue is that you don't like the games, it is the fact that youc alled them terrible which is just not true at all. I am not a big fan of the newer Halo games, or gran turismo, or the newer metroid games etc BUT I would never say they are terrible just because I do not like them.....I think that is the issue here....not the fact that you don't like the games.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

The Souls games aren't for everyone.  They appeal to people that like a challenge in their games like they used to have and don't like having their hand held.  Now I've never heard anyone knock Bloodborne's atmosphere, that's a first.

Honestly, I am right there with ya op.

I keep getting suckered by the praise these games are getting. I know I won't like them, but I get them anyway... The souls games are not for everyone (certainly not me).

Your personal opinion. As opinions go not very surprising, because every game even the most unpopular is loved by some people and every game even the most popular is hated by some people. No surprise here. You only have to accept that your opinion is very unpopular (the games have 90+ meta-scores) and saying they are terrible instead of "I didn't like them" may be offending to people.

Great post!  But I think it wouldn't matter one way or another. You're either a fool for not liking it or a fool for thinking it's terrible.
