Forums - PC Discussion - Why I think Heroes of the Storm should flop

A lot of us who have played every single Blizzard game are passing on Heroes of Storm alpha/beta. I think I've gotten messages for over a year that I have access to the game. It just seems unnecessary. Also all the people I know that play it only play it casually. Which is more reason for me to not invest in the time sync that can't even hold the most die-hard Blizzard fans attention.

I want it to flop. But that is because i want Blizzard to focus more on making WoW awesome again. I dont want them to take the easy way out with these small but highly profitable games.
Much like the mobiles games, this is something that has a big profitability, but its not something sustainable long term to the games industry as a whole. Variety is necessary. Dedicated experiences are necessary.

Atm i have more fun at heroes of the storm than dota 2 or LoL... a lot less ppl calling.. because a lot more casual and no personal rank in game and at end ! perfect for gaming !

Isnt it FPS MOBA?

Blizzard changed since the Activision merger, I don't recognize them any more. For me, the definitive sign that they were headed in the wrong direction was Diablo III and the slew of issues surrounding it.

Blizzard is pretty much like sega and other dead companies, they go after free to play crowd and mobile instead making high quality titles like warcraft 4. Their next game overcharge is also trying to steal TF players.

I played it a couple times a couple months ago but I didn't really like it that much I prefer dota, I don't really play MOBAs anyways.

I heard that the game has a massive budget and dev team, so if it does flop it aint gonna be good for blizz :o

I disagree. I like the game. And I love blizzard so the characters in heroes of the storm are much more interesting for me to play than anything Lol has

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Ok I'll bite

Heroes of the Storm in all honesty is the first moba that's ever appealed to me, simply because for one it's using it's own brand of already exisiting characters I already know about so getting to know their iconic attacks/skills isn't so hard for me like it would be for something like LoL or Dota, for another they don't put any focus on items like Dota/LoL do, they even give you multiple maps while LoL sticks with one (to which every strat is basically laid down for all of time) and Dota is pretty much the same.

To me HotS feels a lot easier to get into and doesn't exactly complicate things in the way LoL and Dota have before, that is to say HotS hasn't changed a lot either but to me it just feels much easier to just jump right in and play straight away, practice a build or two and just getting on with it while sticking with the team and pining the mini map for assistance which usually works quite well when paired with random players and friends alike.

The multiple maps more or less have different minions and mobs, sometimes even different mechanics but the goals are still the same, the blackheart's bay feels a lot like the recent Sky Temple with the exception of the mechanics with one having to gather coins and the other having to hold down a spot but in the end both are designed to attack gates/forts and thus feel the same with slight deviations within the maps design, not that I have a problem with that, I actually like all the maps but prefer having more maps than simply being stuck on the same map all the time.

I don't feel that HotS is a blatant cash grab ebcause really it;s not grabbing them tonnes of cash, you can earn most of it just playing the heroes, leveling them up and your profile, maybe if you wanted to level and gain gold faster then you could maybe buy yourself a stim pack but even then they aren't crippling in price.

If I had a choice I;d rather Blizz focus on making a new Warcraft RTS but I realise they won't because that would take away their own fanbase on the likes of Starcraft and more so with HotS, it happened more or less when they brought out SCII and now the SCII hype has died down and now it's not the big E-sport focus like it was 3-4 years ago (CSGO has more or less taken the spotlight along with other games).

I too played in Alpha and I've been plaing it on and off since, I can't say I'm disappointed, it's a decent game for me and my first proper entry into the moba genre and I feel a lot more comfortable with the characters and maps than I ever will with Dota/LoL, I know quite a few LoL characters and even like their intro vids and the like but they just don't click well enough like Blizz characters do.

In the end I think HotS will do fine for what it is, it won't generate them shit tonnes of cash like Acti think it will but it won't be outright terrible either, I wouldn't want it to flop though, seems a tad bit harsh to desire that on people like me who simply enjoy the game for what it is.
