I missed the fact that there were two separate articles, but I've edited my original post to reflect that.

I disagree with the basic premise of this thread, that the dev was lying about the Wii U version of the game. As I've stated in another post, they had a goal in mind, they thought they could achieve it, but in the end they couldn't.

Perhaps an overeaction by the OP.

But the behavior of Slightly Mad Studios becomes more suspect now in light of these new developments. Promising without delivering is bad especially considering that it is crowd funded.

It makes you wonder why Wii U footage was never ever shown. The studio has alot to answer for in my opinion.

You create a thread titled "The lies of Slightly Mad (Project Cars)", quote an article from a year and a half ago, and then contribute nothing more than a "No comment"?

Quality thread, OP. Why not just post your "No comment" in this thread?

Edit: Actually, it looks like you did.

It's clear from this article and from the article in the above thread, that they really wanted to create a quality Wii U version of their game. They even say in the article you posted above "We could reach a fairly solid 30FPS but it might take a hell of a lot of work.". A year and a half ago they acknowledged it was going to be difficult to achieve this. In the end, they just weren't able to make it happen. This doesn't make them liars.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/12/wii_u_more_than_capable_of_providing_the_core_project_cars_experience_says_developer

They've been promising things at least two years ago:

"Speaking to Red Bull, Tudor said:"

"The Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project CARS experience. Sure, some super-high-level graphical effects may not be possible but in comparison it also offers a unique interaction experience via the GamePad controller, with the second screen potentially becoming your track map overview, rear-view mirror, telemetry, or simply mimicking a real race car steering wheel whilst you use the gyroscope to drive."

I'm not seeing any promises here.

They said "The Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project CARS experience.". They were able to achieve 23FPS at 720p. They wanted this to be at 30FPS at 720p. They just couldn't make it happen. They could still release the game in its current state, but imagine the sea of endless "Lazy Dev" comments.

If this was a normal game development, I would be inclined to agree with you. But this is a kickstarter game where people are donating their cash for a potential game. The developer is obviously encouraging their donators (and marketing to future ones!) that a Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project Cars experience.

The WII U version of the game (as well as other console versions) was added to the list of Kickstarter goals late into fundraising.

Direct quote from Ian Bell (SMS's CEO):
"We started the project as a Free to Play PC racing game. That's where more than 95% of the funding was raised. It later (by the choice of the backers) changed to a standard console release on last gen. This then changed (by decision of the backers) to a standard console release on next gen systems."

They had no reason to mislead Wii U owners to meet funding goals.

So they didn't lie, and the OP is just overreacting?

Glad to see that's been made clear.

I´m showing facts. Maybe the title is an overreaction, but I´m not doing a rant or something like that, I´m comparing their words.

And that sounds like a cancelled game once Nintendo doesnt show the NX, and they are not going to.

But that's not what they are saying. So... Clickbait at best?

EDIT: I see that the "30FPS" comment is not from the first article, but from a more recent article. Doesn't really change anything. They thought they could achieve 30FPS, but in the end they just couldn't make it work. This happens all of the time in development.

Edit, edit, edit.

Can you stop now?

Stop what? Correcting the errors in my post? You want me to leave those errors there so that people can jump on them instead of discussing the topic?

You know there's a report button for the post you made? In the report page, you post a description of what is wrong with OP and press the submit button. If you made a bad report, press the button again and correct yourself if need be.

Thanks

No, thanks. I'd rather point out the issues with the thread so that OP can have a chance to improve things if he wishes to do so, instead of reporting it and having a mod ignore it or getting to it hours later.

They are just lazy and want to run away with the wiiu backing money

"Tudor said he sees the game regularly and he's impressed with where it's at. "It's got dynamic time of day, weather--it looks phenomenal," he said. "And the actual console itself is quite good."

^ That is at the very least misleading backers. I can definitely see how somebody can interpret it as lieing.

Good for you, and thanks for cluttering the forum.

And what do you think you're doing?

Not one comment you made was remotely on topic.

Two things:
1. In addition pointing out issues with the OP, my post also contributed to the topic.
2. Aren't you cluttering up the forum and this thread with these off-topic posts?
