I got potentially better news about Project Cars. Looks like they're still promising to try a Wii U version if the NX isn't announced at E3. But its clear at this point that their previous stance on not making a gimped port for Wii U isn't true anymore.

“Honestly, unless we really cut the looks back I think we’re looking to Nintendo’s next console. 720p yes. I suppose if they don’t announce something at E3 or soon after we will have a go at it.”

You create a thread titled "The lies of Slightly Mad (Project Cars)", quote an article from a year and a half ago, and then contribute nothing more than a "No comment"?

Quality thread, OP. Why not just post your "No comment" in this thread?

Edit: Actually, it looks like you did.

It's clear from this article and from the article in the above thread, that they really wanted to create a quality Wii U version of their game. They even say in the article you posted above "We could reach a fairly solid 30FPS but it might take a hell of a lot of work.". A year and a half ago they acknowledged it was going to be difficult to achieve this. In the end, they just weren't able to make it happen. This doesn't make them liars.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/12/wii_u_more_than_capable_of_providing_the_core_project_cars_experience_says_developer

They've been promising things at least two years ago:

"Speaking to Red Bull, Tudor said:"

"The Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project CARS experience. Sure, some super-high-level graphical effects may not be possible but in comparison it also offers a unique interaction experience via the GamePad controller, with the second screen potentially becoming your track map overview, rear-view mirror, telemetry, or simply mimicking a real race car steering wheel whilst you use the gyroscope to drive."

I'm not seeing any promises here.

They said "The Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project CARS experience.". They were able to achieve 23FPS at 720p. They wanted this to be at 30FPS at 720p. They just couldn't make it happen. They could still release the game in its current state, but imagine the sea of endless "Lazy Dev" comments.

Op updated with that, thanks :P

You should add their interview in 2013 about making a good port for Wii U too.

"What we´re going to make sure is that the Wii U version is not the worst one, it won´t be a crappy version. We want people to get the game and say `Holy s***, that looks amazing!´"

Because I want to discuss the fact that they have lied . And show that to all the possible people in this forum comparing what they said 8 months ago with what they are saying now on their forums. I´m not revealing the news, Is a thread to talk about how do we feel about them now.

This isn't lying though. They had a goal in mind, they thought they could achieve it, but in the end they couldn't.

EDIT: I see that the "30FPS" comment is not from the first article, but from a more recent article. Doesn't really change anything. They thought they could achieve 30FPS, but in the end they just couldn't make it work. This happens all of the time in development.

I'm not sure if you are reading things correctly...

In the first article, the studio implied that the game was delayed to 2015 because they needed a little more time to finish up the game.

Now, they've revealed that they are not even half way and are uncommited to the project because they are "hoping" for a new console announcenment.

It's quite clear that they've been leading people on a wild goose chase.

So they didn't lie, and the OP is just overreacting?

Glad to see that's been made clear.

We should be hearing more stories like this one if there was third party support. It looks like NX is near or should be near as other developers can be interested in the concept.

I missed the fact that there were two separate articles, but I've edited my original post to reflect that.

I disagree with the basic premise of this thread, that the dev was lying about the Wii U version of the game. As I've stated in another post, they had a goal in mind, they thought they could achieve it, but in the end they couldn't.

If this was a normal game development, I would be inclined to agree with you. But this is a kickstarter game where people are donating their cash for a potential game. The developer is obviously encouraging their donators (and marketing to future ones!) that a Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project Cars experience.

I´m showing facts. Maybe the title is an overreaction, but I´m not doing a rant or something like that, I´m comparing their words.

And that sounds like a cancelled game once Nintendo doesnt show the NX, and they are not going to.
