Washington (dbTechno) - It appears that the public beta test for the PlayStation Network’s PlayStation Home service is getting ready to kick off in March. PS3 owners are likely going to be able to jump into the world of Home very shortly.

Reports are that many members of the official PlayStation Forums are being notified to link their accounts on the forums with their PlayStation Network accounts.

The e-mail has gone out to members of the Official European PlayStation Forums and is also likely to go out to those in North America as well. We have already received an e-mail from one of our readers that he has received the e-mail from Sony in North America.

The e-mail states that users must link their PlayStation Network account to their PSN user ID before March 16, 2008.

With the PlayStation Network and the Official PlayStation Forums now joining forces, it only makes sense that from this point forward, Sony is getting closer to a public Home beta for all PS3 owners to try out.

Sources are stating that the Home beta could begin as soon as this month, so it could be just a few weeks away!

Don't get your hopes up, I highly doubt we'll see Home opening its doors in march. I mean we are not receiving in-game xmb till summer, whats Home without in-game xmb? My guess is that Home will release a little before christmas.

 Do you know what trolling is?  It's pretty valid to be worried about Home when it can't handle 40 people at a time and is busy corrupting data.

I don't think it means that Home is coming. This was announced a while ago for Europe. I think that the OP is reading too much into it.

Especially after I read twesterm's thread, I definitely think that we may be further from the public beta than many thought. Though, it seems that the problems that were in his thread were more-so on the server side of things [need new, bigger, larger servers], rather than it being something fundamentally wrong. I mean, Sony must know what they're doing, Warhawk has 32 player online, and the report was that it was slowdown with ten people, which, after warhawk, I wouldn't see happening. I think that there is more to do, but a public beta this month might not be far off, but I'd expect it to happen in the summer [maybe August].

I had to link my PSN account with my Playstation Forum profile but i doubt it is due to Home beta being available in march!

 actually msot of those issues probably could be resolved with stronger/more servers.That screen thing seems to be just a glitch in the graphics. Beta code still has bugs, that is why tis a beta. Its meant to help find the bugs.

I cant see this happening so soon, but is good news if it does the more people testing the better for everyone.

Wait....Home is a project headed by SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe)....the only people that were told to link the accounts were the users of the European Official forums.....hmmmm.....maybe Home is going to the next beta phase by allowing more people to enter (SCEE's fellow European Ps3 users). Just my observation.
