Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should Splatoon have more than 4 people per team?

If you had more players the game would probably require a small graphical downgrade. You'd have to weigh up which you wanted more. Plus small numbers help keep it more team based, sometimes more doesn't always mean better

Honestly, I think the game works and revolves perfectly with 4 players per team.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Nop, it doesn´t need bigger teams imo

Nah. They can save that for Spla2n on NX. 6 on 6 would be about perfect with bigger maps. But the problem is that since they wait until its full every time, then it will be a bigger task to get a full group. That would be the biggest issue.

The maps seem to be designed around 4 players per team so no imo.

It's bound to happen. Probably in the sequel. Every shooter eventually expands with some form of big team.

Personally, I'd hope they'd balance the weapons more and deepen the gameplay a bit before they go and expand the game's player count. The Test Fire reminded me a tad too much of Monday Night Combat pre-patches as far as balance goes, and that's not a good thing.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Considering the objective is to cover as much of the map up in your own ink, I don't think it matters if you can find other people, because you aren't required to kill them.

If you really want to, just stake out at their base.

Otherwise, 4v4 is awesome.

Whutchu talking about? Some of my most intense matches came from Saltspray Rig! The center area leading into the big square area with all those containers stacked up aswell as the rectangular area between the two spawn points are popular spots for constant action.

Nope, without voice chat or any 'chat' type of thing, it would be even harder to communicate with more people. And since theres only 4people, you can easily know where your other team mate is.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Technical problems aside, more people would take away some of the strategy of the game.It would be top chaotic.Of course, it depends how large the other maps are, but for most 4 people do the job.And knowing how to spread the team is also part of the game.Though i wouldnt mind a "8 player smash" mode.Pure chaotic fun

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
