I really hate the dude bro kind of setting-characters...

But the Gears of War series has the best, most refined cover based gameplay mechanic.

Even though the best cover based game is Uncharted 2, all game aspects taken into account, no contest.

Splinter Cell Conviction. Nothing comes close to how smooth the cover transition was. Blacklist made the big mistake of relocating the cover to the thumbstick.

HM would be Gears of War 3.
