Forums - Nintendo Discussion - THEORY: Nintendo dropping backwards compatibility for the NX

http://gamerfitnation.com/it_gamingnews/2015/05/nintendo-nx-backwards-compatibility/

If they go through with this plan it's going to TERRIBLE. That's the one thing I liked about Nintendo systems, despite not being as powerful as their competitiors you could play a massive backlog of games and I feel this is especially needed considering if the NX takes off a lot of people will want to pick up Wii U games that they never got to play during the Wii U generation. Thoughts?

Eh, I'd prefer they get rid of backwards compatibility if it means it brings the price down/gets rid of the game-pad and Wii controllers

I don't like it cause I love BC but at the sametime... If they are switching from PowerPC to x86, I doubt they have a choice and third parties would love it. Still doubt the NX is a console though, most likely its a handheld imo

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

BC should be a feature every console has because that's where we're going. Does your new iPhone 6 still let you download apps you bought on your iPhone 4S? Yes? Alright then.

I think NX is handheld
But i hope they keep it

Backwards compatibility sure is helping the Wii U sell like hotcakes and hurting the PS4 massively ... oh wait.

if they are doing the thing where the software will play on BOTH handhelds and consoles then its not surprising. only so much is capable in terms of hardware and things you can add, space becomes an issue as well

Yes, they can get rid of it and I'll be fine with that.

I mean, I won't be selling my consoles and I hope the next system uses x86.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Another derpy article? It goes against everything Nintendo has said.

The NX will use architecture that is similar to the Wii U because they said that they want ports/hd remakes to be more easily done between systems.

Sure. And they will charge you $40+ a pop again to purchase those games again on NX if you want them.

It's actually far better business to do it that way anyway.
