Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why I think the Xbox One will not be Microsoft's last home console.

Will Microsoft abandon console gaming?

Nope, xbox is a strong part of Microsoft. 71 43.83%

Yes, it loses money and sucks. 43 26.54%

No, but PC will be the focus. 37 22.84%

Microsoft will ditch gaming entirely. 10 6.17%

Now with the Windows 10 and Xbox integration, many people have started wondering if Microsoft will abandon Xbox. But really, there's quite a bit of reasoning to think why it won't happen. For one thing, Xbox is part of the Microsoft echosystem. And if your not convinced, look at its logo. Unless green stands for vegetarian people's stool, I'm pretty sure it stands for Xbox. And with PC gaming and Microsoft, they just don't connect. GFWL was a piece of shit, and didn't come close to competing with steam. Granted, what they're doing is quite a bit different, but they aren't dedicating a platform for just PC gaming. Sure there will be cross platform playing (finally, we've only been waiting like 10 years now ) but this doesn't mean Microsoft is dedicated that many resources to Windows 10 gaming. We'll wait and see, but I still think Microsoft will stay in console gaming!

Anyway what do you guys thing? Will Microsoft indeed stay in console gaming, or abandon it and focus on PC gaming.

I agree that the Xbox One will not be Microsoft's last console :D.

I think we must rethink what we mean with home console entirely. MS knows how important it will be for them to have access to our PCs, TVs, Tablets and Smartphones and they will find a way to merge it all through W10 with Xbox as the gaming platform. MS has the long term, winning strategy right now and that makes me a happy gamer :).

It just won april npd of course it won't be their last

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Who said that it will be the last console of Microsoft? It is doing alright!

depends on your view i think.

ms is really pushing the windows integration. i think their will certainly be a box called xbox that connects to ones tv. but i also think that box will continue to put more and more focus on non gaming things. i still think they are going to push for customers that will buy the device entirely for non gaming purposes. there will always be games but like phones and pcs,.. if you want a massive market you have to appeal to other consumers and not just gamers.

no idea if that will work out any better for them than the xbox one did but i think they will continue to push this direction so long as nadella is running things which will be at least a few more years which will be the bulk of the critical vision R&D of xbox's next whatever.

Its not loseing money is it? I dont think this will be the last xbox, I think its here to stay.
Would be a loss to give up on it.

I don't see why they would stop, but then again, I wouldn't be too surprised if they do..

My thoughts exactly.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Xbox will end after the X1, PS5 will be a streaming box. Nintendo will more likely build the last console.
