Who's the Most popular Characters That Originated from Current Gen? (Both HC+HH)

 

Remember only from this current Generation, so Characters originating from Vita/3DS and/or WiiU/X1/PS4.

A game sales =/= Most popular btw, im talking recognition!!!

On the Nintendo side, I would say the Inklings, they seem so popular and their game isn't even out yet. Shovel Knight is also high up there.

Pokemon should count, Nathan Drake is more popular than every pokemon from gen 4+5, with maybe the exception of Lucario.

 

Besides the only pokemon from current gen making this list would be Greninja and MAYBE Hawlucha

I'm pretty sure Greninja is the most popular, absolutely no contest. Pokémon is way too huge and Greninja's one of the most popular ones - easily the most popular starter since Blaziken/Mudkip and maybe even more (Charizard?).

I just don't like the idea of trating Pokémon as "characters". They're not characters.


Is Yoshi not a character? He was essentially a pokemon in his first game as well as many others. 

Edit: When people ask who's the most popular character in gaming after Mario, many answer pikachu. I do get what you mean though, but they still are characters..... Right? :0

this thread just showed how insignificant this gen is so far.

I don't like to consider them characters. Pikachu is one because it was given a character in the anime, and that's just more reasons for me to hate it. But this is pointless to discuss.

I think the Inklings are pretty popular, but I'm not sure they're the most this gen. Actually, I don't think it's possible to determine the most popular character from a gen before it's over - in fact I can't even think who was the most popular from last gen.

Its obvious who's #1 last gen. Its the Mii's. Whats second is arguable though as there's many candidates. (Ex: Nathan/Rosalina)

It's acquired taste, but these guys are massively popular with 1mil+ gamers - of course, just like his RL counterpart Neil Armstrong, Jebediah Kerman takes the spotlight.

Not so obvious, but Steve from Minecraft (how many people know that's his name in the first place) is probably the most popular character from last gen:

From my time on Gelbooru, i can say that Lucina, Isabelle, the Inkling, Dark Pit and Greninja are popular. I'm currently researching who is more popular.
