The lack of understanding what a CASUAL is is pretty disturbing lol.

Tetris is a casual game and its a hardcore game both at the same time. Hardcore is not the opposite of casual whatsoever and never was and never will be.

Think about it.

Yeah, I've always thought that one of prerequisits for casual gamers is not if the game is easy or hard, but how easy is to get into it.

Im assumeing most casuals buy their consols inside stores (not order online).

If theres a PS4 playing a game, and a Xbox 1 playing the same game right next to each other, and there are visual differnces between them, Im guessing most would pick the one that looks the best.

We all know stores love to run 1 tv with the same video, so you can compare them to each other.
Sometimes that happends with consols too,...

So I think fps/resolution matters even for casual players.

Why would you not get the best looking of the two?

just for clearance

In this tread.. "casuals" means normal people who buy a console just like they buy a computer or other gadet.. meaning looking more at what it offer.. and price.. rather than a special brand/model.

  • Big part of that group is parents buying for kids (and them self mayby :)
  • Other part could be "public places" like kindergardens.. schools.. hotels.. and so.
  • And offcourse 15-45 years who see the right game/experince/service and price

We dont know how many they are.. but I would mean that it's atleast 75% of all console owners from gen 7.. and even so this gen proberly will be smaller.. it's safe to say that its more than 100 mill. (imo)

Funny that your selfquote leaves out the part that triggered my reply.

You for whatever reason dropped this:

Now that the "hardcore gamer" mostly have gotten a gen 8 home console and the dust has settled.. we can assume that the more "casual" videogamer will start enter gen 8..  But what matter for theese people.. How is it in your contry..?

Why does this text even exist at all if you dont talk about the gamers?

You mix both meanings and then suddenly change the meaning mid-thread? Write a better opening post then :)

because i would get a pc if i would care. So i can make my own settings to play how i like it.

also i doubt u would see the difference in a store as long as its not exact the same picture on both

My country's market is unique and always favored PS consoles since PS1 solely because of football games. But for whatever reason Xbox One and it's games are a lot cheaper so a lot of people got it instead. Nintendo consoles always sell a bit too with Smash being somewhat popular, but those are not the casuals.

It was meant as a litle intro.. but I can see that i should have wrote early adopters instead of "hardcore"

(for me a casual videogamer is the same as a casual buyer.. theese people I talk about :)

BUT i wrote in OP  "just for clearance" and then precisely what I mean by "casual"..  (and in that is was pretty clear that i was talking about "casual" buyers)

(you may have another diffenation of casuals.. But I cant see why this is relevant when I have writen what this tread is about)

I can guarantee casuals are buying this gen in droves. Casuals might be friends being pressured by another friend, or parents asking the employee "which console is what most kids are playing?".

But most importantly, I have seriiiiiiiooooous doubts that the majority of PS4's 20 million userbase knows/cares about 1080p/60fps.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

from the friends/relatives i know. 4 have X1, my brother have 2 games (free from the X1 bundle) and he is a Fifa fanatic like me (so casual gamer), the two friends i know are very casual gamers (one uses the kinect for tv and another one for exercise and just dance), and the other friend i know bought it with COD: AW (so is he also a casual gamer?)

4 have PS4 - 2 friends i know loves NBA 2K series, they are Sony-only gamers, and i think could have upto 15 games in their library for a certain gen. they are also hardcore gamers. another friend i know loves the big 3rd party AAA games, Diablo III, Witcher 3, Destiny, BF, COD:AW, Infamous and other AAA games that Sony have (another hardcore gamer in my definition of a hardcore gamer). and my cousin, who has X360 before, have a Wii U and now a PS4, and she likes a lot of Western Open world games, and playing RE, ACU, and other great games PS4 has to offer, she may already have a dozen or more PS4 games. My cousin's wii u, not sure how many games she has but i think she doesn't have a ton of games or even all the great nintendo exclusive games.

On the Wii U, my friend has it and has 10 games but rarely play it and doesn't buy any day 1 games. He played a lot of Smash Bros but that's it. so he is in my casual category.

i only have 10 games for PS4 and 25 for Wii U. and didn't buy PS4 AAA games. planning too only when the price is right. and waiting for XCX and FFXV this year. i have a ton of backlog games for PS3, Wii U and PS4. i'm more into Fifa games, plus RPG.
hardcore gamer but since I'm a working dad, so don't have that much of a time that I've used to play Diablo II, Dota 1, etc... Kids would go back to my home country, then I'll just be home alone with my gaming consoles. :D
