I assume he means the standard 3ds (742 1.5%) and the 3ds LL (790 1.6%) are on their last leg. So in the future we might only have to add up 2 SKUs to get the total 3DS sales. Also Sony "won the hardware game" (for whatever it´s worth) this week (combined Sony 52.7% combined Nintendo 47%)

Anyways I wonder how low those numbers will go during this gen and will we still have Japanese retail (in terms of size) home console games in a couple years? I can see the next gen selling below XB1 numbers there...

"I was getting tired of having to add up 4 SKUS to get the "3DS family" total." Oooooookay? Because you were tired of doing addition, 3ds should be discountinued? Never heard that one before.....

As for Sony HW winning, Sony wins just seems like a way to have an excuse for 3ds being #1... :-/

 

Edit: Everything beyond bad, PS4 should slightly go up with Witcher 3 doing 40k-55k FW. Only Splatoon with good numbers for the month incoming. Minecraft legs are the new AC, though AC still charts lol

So I was thinking about Codename STEAM.  It's like, ultra-bomba status (didn't even sell a bar's worth of its shipment in Japan), but still...

Perhaps I shouldn't have expected anything from it.  My thought process was that it's Intelligent Systems, Nintendo-published.  They had insane breakout success with Fire Emblem Awakening so I thought it would've at least had some appeal in the market through pedigree/genre.

But, Intelligent Systems also have Advance Wars which apparently sells twat all in Japan too.  So maybe the problem is them.  Unless they're making something with a more Japanese aesthetic, the market just isn't interested.

Still, I don't get how Nintendo convinced retailers to stock quite so many copies.  That's quite an impressive achievement.

Considering Japanese retailers have no mechanism to return titles to publishers once they're shipped, it's a hell of a lot for a title that sold < 2k in its first week.  It'll take them a while + some heavy discounting to sell through the copies they do have, even if there's not a great deal out there in general.

The bars imply a shipment in the range of 15k units, right? That's not an awful lot.

The bar states it sold less than 20% of its shipment. We don't know how many copies were purchased, just a minimum.
