Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz is a shadow of its former self (bear with me here)

Site about sales.
Latest sales are March 28th.
Today is May 20th, almost 2 months later.

Deal with the fact that the site is basically dead in terms of what it is supposed to be.

It is to my recollection. It's just it has been so long since numbers came out that it's not really been introduced (however discussing what should and shouldn't be moderated is a slippery slope and it's probably best if we don't go down there...)

And a nice post Mr. Playstation. I agree with a lot of what you say but instead of dwelling on the past it's best to try and improve the future.

It is indeed better to improve the future. Please don't feel offended by the post.

I'm not offended by it so don't worry about that. It's just slightly unsettling to hear this (or words similar to what you are saying) from so many people, particularly over the past few weeks. I've heard a lot of it over PM's and off-site chat but it seems to be a bigger issue than I'd anticipated, or even feared. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying to improve the site and make it a better place for everyone on it; that would be defeatist and it would be letting my friends down. I've no intention of doing that.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I'm starting to believe he got sick of the bitching, "under tracked, over tracked, etc." This might be a lesson he's teaching us to appreciate the site more.

I have thought the same....That's exasperating:P

I actually meant ioi could ban them to teach them a lesson...

And yeah, I really think shouting over/under tracked with zero actual proof should be a bannable offence.

I remember when we went the first month without and update and when they were updated people just was saying "undertracked/overtracked, still haven't fixed ___ numbers" Wouldn't be surprised if that is having an affect on output.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I'd be perfectly fine if ioi were a bit more concrete. If he came here and said, "look, I have a lot of shit going on, so I won't post many updates until July", or "look, I don't know when I will post numbers again, coz I broke my leg", then I would be feeling better about it. It would give me a reason to trust that the numbers will be back and it would give me a reason to be more understanding.

What are you doing? Spurgonryan will come back to make thousands of threads about.... everything... if you complain too much

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I found this site after being permanently banned from teamxbox.com for posting Wii sales data from vgchartz...I think vgchartz suffers like any other social media site...as user base ages can you keep them coming back and to often the answer is no. Site is mainly a place bombarded by fan boys ideals...my two cents

But things were pretty good when you weren't posting.

Well I'm not really talking about the forum in general but it seemed quite boring here for the most part whenever I checked what was going on.

The boredom wouldn't change if we got regular sales updates. The sales themselves are boring, considering how clear cut the positions of all five systems this generation are.

I think that's the main problem.

In terms of sales debates, you're absolutely right. But, to be perfectly honest, the sales debates were never especially interesting to me. I rarely saw deep, insightful analyses of sales trends, market shifts, and pre-order patterns. Much more frequently I saw "game X is winning, lol" or "system Y is doomed, lmao." Sales figures on VGChartz are more often used as artillery in a never-ending console war, rather than an entree to a meaningful discussion about the video game market.

So, while I know some members here miss them desperately, I don't mind their absence. It's the community here that brings me back, not the numbers.

I think it would be better if the sales were released monthly anyway. They would be more accurate and easier to follow.
