I get that but whats the point of making a thread every other day about it? Not you specifically of course, but all these threads arent going to change anything

Well the sad thing is, what else is there to be talked about on here? What was your first game you played threads? What is the biggest collection of X you own? How long can you hold your breath? those kind of threads are even worse in my opinion than stuff regarding what's actually happening with this site, while I really enjoy the community here the core of the site is sales, last sales info being from 2 months ago completely undermines the sites imo.

If sales are just a no show on here maybe create some extra categories for forums at least, local weather news, "Who's that pokemon?" threads - the real attractions that will get traffic rolling here again.

On the bright side, it seems that the ads are slowing down, as the site stopped trying to install malware on my phone, and the Mega Bingo (or whatever) ads that take up half the screen are gone.

So it's not all that bad. As for the numbers, luckily we get occasional data from the companies and more reliable trackers, so we can still keep up to date on a regular basis.

Adverts being pulled from the site are not a good sign in terms of the lights staying on after ioi has gone home.

Also Jay you can't talk about a rumor like that and then not spill the beans...

Ok.  Rumor is that he got married.  Whether that is true or not idk, its coming from the grape vine.

Really, I'm getting married and I have many different projects going on besides my 9-5 job. I understand he just wants to do the family thing but at the same time, he can organize something that can serve everyone.

Why don't we meet in the middle than, I'm willing to donate time to calculate numbers, Why doesn't he make a numbers team, kind of like the mod team. They must have years on this site.  I would clean up my act and push for this sites success. Us gamers are pretty damn loyal if you think about it, so why doesn't he lean on some of us for help. There for he can spend a quarter of the time on such things.

Any other site that provides regular sales data out there? There must be someone that could take over the task if ioi is busy. I would imagine the site is losing traffic and revenue without regular updates.

Well, first of all, ioi provides sales estimates that get corrected with leaks, not "sales data." Actual, regular sell-through data based off of POS receipts costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and is only available to businesses.

Secondly, there are other people who perform estimates like ioi over in equity research, but they're done in a much more limited capacity and are locked behind very-expensive paywalls.

The fact that ioi does this for free (ad-supported) is quite remarkable when you think about it.

The only people who could really "take over" this enterprise are the existing forum staff.

Not doubting the work and time that goes into providing sales data, was just thinking that there may be someone that works for the site that could take on the task while ioi is unavailable. I have no idea what amount of revenue this website makes or if there are staff outside of volunteers, so it may not even be a possibility.

Imo ioi has abandoned this site. He gets a nice paycheck every week thanks to this site and yet the mods do pretty much all the work and get nothing for it (Or do ye??) . I think the old time VGC'rs and the Head mods/mods should get together and make a new VGC run by the people for the people. I know if alot of my old friends from here done such a thing id join right in.
So many good users have left this site for one reason or another. Even myself post alot less here then i used to in the past. Hard for me to leave this place completly since i been here so long but its just not the same.

I completely agree, You and I have been here for almost the same amount of time. I have been posting as of lately do to E3 but want to see a change.

Certainly enough to live off of.
