My gets loud too. It overheats.

* That's when you should get yourself some compressed air: a loud console (this applies to computers in general) usually indicates a fan that's working itself too hard because it's too hot as a result of dust build up.

Take your console outdoors and blow air into the air vents in short bursts with brief periods in between bursts to allow the fan to slow back down. Don't let the bursts last too long since that can damage the fan.

*I take no responsibility for any damage you might do to your console, just saying this is what I do. Use this remedy at your own risk and you should consult your console's manufacturer for help with a loud console. I have a feeling it won't be too different to my own fix.

Keep us updated on the status. It's always interesting to hear first hand warranty experiences. Then again I squaretrade all of my consoles starting with the 360.

UPDATE:

Fedex delivered the pre-paid shipping box this morning......to the wrong house.

I called both Sony & Fedex about it. Sony told me to make another request since it'll be faster that way (to my work this time), and they will look into the matter. Fedex will also investigate once the driver finishes his shift, but I'm not expecting anything to be done. Fortunately it was just the box.

That's what scares me. Every Sony console I've ever owned (not portable) has broken. Even the "samurai tough" PS3. Hope my console holds up.

You have a really bad luck with Sony's consoles.  My 8 year old PS2 and 5 year old PS3 are working perfectly fine.  I hope I'll have the same luck with the PS4.

No you have really good luck. The PS1 and PS2 were poorly built consoles. They both DRE (Disc Read Error) problems and the PS1 was prone to overheating. Before the 360, the PS2 was the most unrelaible mainstream console. It's DRE was so bad Sony had to settle a class action lawsuit.

lol the world is against you and your ps4.

i never lost a console so far, but all  my console were from Nintendo.
Heard alot about dead playstation and xbox (360). I guess its mainly because of the way higher power consumption on those consoles. High power =/= long live
