Sounds like you had a power surge. Do you have it connected to a surge protector?

If you don't want to lose your save data you COULD switch out the hard drive.

Me neither, although my NES has increasingly more difficulties to read the gamepaks, guess the contacts have been bent too much over the years. But after over 25 years, I can hardly complain. Might go buy a Retron 5 if the problems keep getting worse, though.

It checks the disk for damages, and then it shows a message about the PS4 not shutting off properly. Something about the AC cord or w/e, and it turns off after that. I can't get beyond that message. I'll try to take a picture. It was purchased on Dec 24 of last year.

Yes, and it wasn't one of the cheap ones. I have my PS3 connected to the same one, and it's still kicking after 6 years.

This. Never had a Nintendo console fail on me but I went through multiple PlayStations. It really turns me off to the brand. I hope your repairs are a seamless process.
