It is unfortunate since Mad Max was just THAT good, but the first pitch perfect was a pretty good movie. Reviews show PP2 was also pretty good.

It started doing better now, plus globally it has had more success. Remember US is the market that keeps Adam Sandler and Kevin James in business. Don't know why we act surprised.

It's not really doing better overseas.

One thing that stood out is Pitch Perfect 2 is performing way ahead of the original. Pitch Perfect finished at $65 million in the US, Pitch Perfect 2 is already at $83 million. My guess is the film found its audience on DVD and grew into big cult hit and that audience came out in force.

As for Mad Max, while the buzz has been overwhelmingly positive, I think the R rating and doing a sequel 30 years after the third one combined with less marketing hurt it. Still, I think it could find its own audience on DVD and wouldn't be surprised if a sequel performed much better in 3-4 years.

It's not R-Rated in other countries of the world. For example, in Australia, it is MA15.

Pitch Perfect was running on tv when I was visiting my sister during holidays... it caught my eye and It was actually entertaining.

My wife is a big Pitch Perfect fan, but she refuses to watch the new one because the Green Bay Packers are featured in it. She knows where to draw the line.

As I said in another thread, I found Fury Road to be a great film, but Mad Max and The Road Warrior are both better. Check them out if you never have.

Also, I'm surprised that you never have seen Pitch Perfect, Ryan. I believe that you would enjoy it due to your Spurgeyness.
