After 40 hours of play I think I can give my final thoughts......The Witcher 3 redefines open world games imo. It makes Far Cry, Skyrim and Inquisition look like games made by an indie studio or by college students. Think I'm exaggerating? Wait till you get to Vellen, wait till you get to Novigrad. Wait till you see a storm set in as you ride Roach across the wide open plains. You won't believe your damn eyes and then some. Heck I haven't even been to Skellige yet but I'm already blown away by the sheer scope of everything. I'm completing every damn side quest because they are that good, nothing feels like a grind. I'm not one to get on GOTY hype trains but I swear on the old gods and the new that every other contender had better be on a completely different level to top this. Ive got nothing but good things to say about this game, worth every cent.

The horseback riding and weather system were as vicious as Red Dead Redemption. It would just pour on you in that game.
So far, mostly positive with some drawbacks.
I've only completed the first area so hopefully things will go more smoothly later on. The side quests were good, however since I started exploring early all the linked quests happened out of order with me stumbling into the end first, something the game didn't anticipate judging by the flow of conversations.
The world is lovingly detailed, as is the writing which makes the characters very believable. Yet it also blunders straight into the uncanny valley by having the same standard game play as always. What am I? Am I playing a believable person that tries to do justice yet gets sabotaged in every way, or the standard kleptomaniac psychotic murderer as defined by the actions the game has me perform, or prevents me from interfering.
One moment I'm reasonable trying to calm the situation, the next I'm forced to slaughter an inn full of people, hacking the head of a villager in front of a horrified inn keeper. (Even doing nothing simply loads a cut scene where you hack his head off)
Awesome world, awesome characters, great writing, standard game play with clunky movement, generic monster nests and bandit camps spoil the immersion somewhat. For me this game proves that game play is not the most important, it's actually hindering the game somewhat.
Now when do I find out what happened to that person I tried to save with a potion at the herbalist. He'll probably die a horrible death I imagine.
Really really loving this game now, done my longest stint on it today around 4 hours straight. Done all of Keira metz quests in which I decided to send her to kaer morhen when I finished them. Also loved the ladies in the woods quest. I've hit the point now where I want to make sure I've done everything possible before moving on and also trying to do it right for the best possible ending :)

I know they feeling. Towerful of Mice was a great quest... *sniff*
Just had a gigantic 6 hour gaming session. That's enough for one day and I'm off to bed. Personal GOTY thus far, by a long shot.

Lol I'm not sure who I like best, yennefer is by far the more powerful sorceress and I do like her unpredictably fiery attitude she gets sometimes, although I'm talking about the books I've read so far because I'm still yet to see more of triss in the game and only slightly seen yennefer so far in the game.

Does anyone know if it's possible to unequip a glyph from equipment? And if it is, how the hell do you do it?
