The Last of Us is a good game…nothing more, nothing less

I agree with the OP. Got the game when it came out for PS4 and have only played a couple hours. I do plan to finish it but to me it plays just like Resident Evil with another setting and story.

should i assume that you only watch action/comedies movies when you go to the theater, and know nothing about other genres?

What are you on about? If a game is not fun to play, then everything else doesnt matter...

Story wise, as far as games go, it's my absolute favorite story.  There are certainly better stories in other media, but games alone.  The characters are my favorite in any media.

I think it does a great job at emulating a movie style story, but I think there have been plenty of other games which played to the strengths of video games to make something more impactful. Things like Papers Please, This War of Mine and Catherine all had more engaging story telling in my opinion.

Thats not true at all...games like Papers Please, This War of Mine, Dark Souls, Silent Hill etc aren't aiming to be fun, they are aiming to be engaging or moving. Fun is a very specific emotion and certainly not something all games or other media are aiming for. Its a very limited palate...if that is all you are aiming for, you lose virtually everything in the Horror/Drama/Thriller genres. This could be a discussion about the definition of fun though, so I want to make it clear that fun is not synonymous with enjoyment.

You really shouldn't assume anything. Those genres are by far my least favorite.

Horror is my favorite genre, actually. And you know what? I have a good time when I see those movies. Similarly, I have a good time when I play horror games (ZombiU, Resident Evil and Dead Space included).

I'm really not sure what point you're trying to make. Should someone not enjoy themselves when watching/playing something that's thrilling and tense? Isn't the point of games to have fun, no matter what definition is applied to that word?

So only action and comedy movies can be fun? Is fun impossible in gritty drama movies?

I had a lot of fun in the game beating clickers with pipes and plancks of wood, stealth was very enjoyable and I had fun planning out strategies.

The game's at its best on the hardest difficulty, every resource is precious.

But how can it be underrated when the vast majority call it 'a masterpiece'' D:

Probably my third favorite game on a playstation system. It's an amazing game really.

Very overrated game, but still a good game. The AI in this game is terrible.

The game isn't special either, been there and done that. I don't understand all the 10/10 scores.

This is the only review of TLOU you should watch.

Disagree completely OP.

The Last of Us was the best game I've played in 22 years of gaming.
