Ofcourse it is.

He is expressing his opinion. No need to be passive aggressive.

I've got no idea how the conversation has gone so far but all I can say it: 'this is the best game ever created and the most important evolution of the gaming media'. It grew up 'ONCE', let's hope it can grow up again.

Great game. Well worth the money.  Highly recommended.

Now explain to me what this game did that hasn't been seen before. Gaming grew up ONCE? It's okay to build up a game but it kind feels like this game is getting built up at the expense of other great games and that, I can't agree with.  As important as TLoU is alleged to be in this quote, it must have some social implications.  Help me out here.  Break that quote down so that I don't misinterpret the meaning.

It's not particularly a new idea or gameplay mechanic that made it great. It just executed what it tried to do, perfectly, like a culmination of several years of what some game developers tried to achieve.

It is a very grown up game and some of that may be lost on fans of more simple/historical 'gamey' games. I say that not as an insult or anything, just that it's a matter of differing tastes.

It did 'grown up'. Other games just pretend to be grown up. Every game before it and so far every game that came after it has second rate dialogue with characters you just don't really care about. Yes, other developers give you reason to 'feel' you care but it's pseudo care brought about by plot manipulation and cliqued scenes coupled with the appropriate music. In TLOU you care because the characters feel real.

It's actually impossible to explain properly to be honest. I have had many friends who just don't understand why one film wins oscars and another doesn't. If people can't understand the difference there then they'll never understand the difference here.

The PS5 Exists.

Enjoy your bag of attention.

And before I get moderated, I will add that each time I see a reactionary article towards any piece of entertainment, I can only think it's written as click bait.

Downplaying a flagship game from another camp is nothing new. Lol. We all know which company is doing well and whose future is dim. Have fun. Its really immature attempt to downplay others.

What?

I'm curious then to what last generation game you consider to be a master-piece or "game of the generation"?

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one: if what ND tried to achieve with The Last of Us was what was shown at E3 2012, I'm going to say they didn't execute what they tried to do, at least not well.

I see posts like this, and I can't help but understand despite not agreeing myself. What TLOU did was make a mature game with every facet of it polished to near perfection. The pacing, the graphics, the controls, the story, the characters, the progression...all of it was done superbly. And unlike many games before it, it legitimized gaming to people who don't get the nerd culture, because it shunned nerd culture in favor of offering a cinematic yet interactive piece of art more approachable by mainstream audiences.

But even after saying all of the above, I can wholeheartedly agree it did NOTHING truly innovative aside from offering a greater sum of its unoriginal parts.

I loved the game, and my partner loved watching me play (like if it were a suspenseful horror film with action and character pieces spliced together). I've read many similar accounts that brought interest of non players for its sheer immersion factor, so even if it didn't do any individual thing the best, it was the best at offering a complete package, IMHO.

So this thread is still going on...

That's TLOU.

If you want a popular thread on VGC simply put TLOU in the title and praise for how good it is OR be critical about the sales of the WiiU xD

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...
