I don't think it's worth jumping on anyone who doesn't want to call it GOTG or even GOTY because that's really subjective and opinions differ greatly.
I would point out however, that TLOU did something, for me at least, that very few games have ever done for me (I'm 38 BTW, so I've played my fair share of games) on an emotional level. I think it also had that effect on a lot of other people especially the critics.
Even when I knew, or thought I knew, what was coming next I still felt the impact of the tragedy in that game. And I felt a connection to Joel and Ellie. And I enjoyed watching them grow together through the game. It was all the small things, like Ellie learning to whistle and learning to trust Joel, that came together to help you care about these two people and their journey.
As for "fun." I had fun but not in the traditional sense. It was as fun as watching the Walking Dead I suppose. Though knowing it was going to come to an end made it all the more heart wrenching once the credits rolled.
I felt drained emotionally by the time I finished that game. In fact I didn't play another video game for several weeks afterwards because I could only think about TLOU.
Sure the game has all the traditional problems of most, if not all video games; dumb AI, glitches, etc. etc. but if that ruined the game for you I don't see how one could enjoy any video game.
