Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does the PS VITA Wiki page say 4M sold when it is closing in on 11M?!..

I tried to edit it, but an Xbox fanboy is the Mod and threatened to ban me if I posted 10.3 Million units sold worldwide because he said this site is wrong lol smh

lol nope still says 4M sold. The mod there will not let you update it. Be careful he threated to ban me for posting 10.3M units worldwide. He said this site is wrong and seems to like Xbox a lot from reading his other post.

You have to blame Sony, for not giving exact numbers.

I knew Wikipedia was a secret Xbox fansite, those bastards!

Well thats dumb.  I wouldnt worry about it too much, but maybe try and edit it later once he forget about it if you want to.  Idk how wikipedia works tbh, but unless they ban you from even entering the website you should be able to edit things. You dont have to be a user or anything.  I didnt even know there was mods on there

They can ban your IP adress from editing articles, doesn't matter if you have an account or not.

And of course there are mods there, how could wikipedia be reliable if anyone was able to edit it without reliable data to back up? lol.

vgchartz is not really an official or that reliable of a source.  Not to say all the numbers are bad, but it's because they use other sources to check their numbers that we are able to get decent estimates.  For vita many of these sources are lacking.  Sony has been silent since the 2.2 million number.  Japan has 2 trackers so it's pretty reliable.  NPD isn't even leaking the vita numbers anymore it seems so we are left with very little.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Wikipedia is like this in general. Long-Time editors on Wikipedia find favorite articles and claim them as their turf, discouraging others from taking part in them. This is one of the reasons Wikipedia has been seeing less editors, especially newcomers, since 2010 or so (in 2006 and 2007, there were as many as 1800 new articles a day, compared to 700 to 800 more recently). Even if the mod in question were a Vita fanatic, they may have a very convoluted idea about what does or does not constitute as a reputable source (Depending on the Mod, either Twitter is a viable source of information or Time magazine's website isn't).

Love and tolerate.

Just edited it using only known Japanese sales. Wonder if it will stay lol.
