No it isn't. The PS3/360 still get 3rd party games and the Wii U is more powerful than them so clearly power isn't what stops it from getting 3rd party support. It's more to do with how different it is to the other consoles, and most importantly the fact that very few people actually buy them when they are made.

You missunderstand my comment.

Most games are possible on wii us hardwar - yes. So your right that the hardware itself isnt prevent the games to be released on the wii u.

But, because of the weak/similar hardware wii u - xbox360/ps3 - nobody who care about third party games get a wii u.

If your a gamer and you love to play third party games in the past years you already got a ps3/xbox/pc anythime in 2008-2012.

So you have this system already. The wii u doesnt have any really graphical advnatages over any xbox360 or ps3 version, so you will more likely buy the games still on your old system (because thats where your online friends at, where you get more dlcs etc.). Thats why the bad hardware perevent games to come to the wii u. Its nothing technical.

Yeah right it lost because it was purple

yes. consoles needs to be cool and so on. and the gamecube just waxnt cool.

Do you think a puprle ps4 would sell? I highly doubt it.

I know many people who pays 50 bucks extra just to get their ps4 and white. Many people got the ps4 just because it looks better as the xbox one.

It would've been an improvement but I don't think it would have won, it would have been another gamecube vs xbox situation with it mirroring X1 sales.

Nintendo would still have issues with branding, markting, online (which is a biggie). I think it would make more sense for it to remain a 2012 release, more or less on par with X1 and a preimum price, that would have garunteed it 2nd place.

I Agree with your sentiments regarding price, for whatever reason people think the success of Nintendo's home consoles (outside of Wii) is dependent on a cheap price, when it infact price seems to be irrelevant and did little for the gamecube. Nintendo consoles appeal first and foremost to hardcore gamers who love Nintendo, most of them would buy the system regardless of whether it was $200 or $400, if it had third party support+modern graphics lots of core gamers on the fence would go with Nintendo. Their IPs carry far more weight then anything sony or Microsoft can output. MarioKart/3D MArio+Zelda+Smash Bros >>> Halo+Gears+Forza pr Uncharted+Gran Turismo+GOW etc

This still wouldn't be enough to win because the masses who only buy 2-3 games per year (Fifa, COD etc) are not at all aligned to Nintendo's brand or their online presence. Its something that they could work on throughout the gen and would be aided by general success/popularity of the hardware but it would still prevent them from winning IMO. Depending on when the system was launched I think it would do between 40-60m.

I think it's still unlikely because a stronger Wii U = increased pricing which could lower sales

Power was the least of the Wii U's concerns. The major problems were that

1) Nintendo has never been good at gathering third party support, and
2) The Wii U's unique gamepad display made it hard for third party developers to develop for.

The result is that no one besides Nintendo developed for it and you can't sell a console with one studio alone. Power was never a significant issue; it's something forum nerds like us debate over, but is basically immaterial for the rest of the gaming world.

Yes it is, or at least one of the main ones. Third parties aren't completely stupid, so they're not going to look at the Wii U and think, yeah, this is what our audience wants, this'll be their prefered platform for our big budget action game which is all about graphics and cinematics. Equally no fan of said games is going to look at the Wii U and be like, yeah this souped up 360 is going be my main console for the next 5 years and my console of choice for games which are all about graphics and scale.

I don't recall the Wii U's price cut having any real effect on sales back in 2013.

The Chartz isn't big enough for two Soundwaves.

The only thing that would have helped the Wii U is if they didn't name it the Wii U and gave it a entirely different console shape than the Wii U. Branding was terrible for it. Probably the worst branding I ever seen for a console.

Power as the the one determining factor in the fall of Wii U sales.
For example even if NX is the strongest console next gen, that doesn't guarantee success.

A stronger Wii U would have sold the same, but they would never have made a profit this gen. They are going in the right direction with getting the hardcore audience noticing the Nintendo brand again. I think Nintendo's best shot will be next gen (at least with attracting the hardcore fanbase).

They really need to merge at least one more developer, or get a few more M rated titles linked to the Nintendo brand. If they could bag Konami or Capcom (which both I see as possibilities before this gen is over) or some of their IP's, everything will be in place to bet on a powerful console.
