Touche, that game on my sig seems to stick out. Then again LBP 3 discussion stopped almost the same time, but I see it sold enough to warrant a spot. Actually when the news about the Conker DLC caused a stir for a while. Hey, negative press is still press ;). Besides, it is Free-to-play, which I imagine has been downloaded enough, if Neverwinters downloads are anything to go by.

Project Spark wasn't bundled for holidays though.

I am inclined to agree, it seemed most of LBP3 sales are the result of bundles. I think Sony had the idea that there just wasn't any buzz momentum going for the game.

But I wouldn't tread down this path because it works both ways. Titanfall and Forza 5 had considerable bundles. That said they are guaranteed million sellers on their own steam.

I find it interesting that so many people keep acting as if the whole current direction can be solely attributed to Spencer and that he'd have done the same if he'd been put in charge earlier, the direction can be attributed mainly to the collossal backlash and misfire of the original direction. Just like most of Spencers persona can be attributed to PR telling him to become Mr. Nice Guy Gaminglover to make Xbox more likable after most of the gaming community wanted Xbox to fail and burn. everything these big CEOs say is backed by PR, but who can blame them, it seems to be working.

Anyway, yes MS should have quite a decent number of exclusives at their show, announced and unannounced.

Just wanna say I do agree with you. It is all a facade. Then again you could say Sony is doing the same thing, albiet far better and from the beginning.

But then again if good PR leads to more sales, then maybe it isn't just PR for the sake of PR. It is a actual strategy to gain market share.

Its just funny MS figured this out so late. Whodathunk it that listending to your customer leads to customer satisfaction ;P

Oh of course, Sony is doing the same thing and it's definitely a strategy to gain marketshare.

And it's not like I mind it, as long as the words are supported by actions. ;)

Just stop and use your head. I'd say PS4 has more diversity doesn't mean the X1 lacks diversity.

The library by itself looks like it doesn't lack diversity until you compare it to the competion.

Compare the exclusive games and their genres in both consoles libraries. There's not much point in counting 3rd party because it's shared by both.

First, let's do a head count

PS4

Exclusive = 45

Sony Exclusive = 52

Console exclusive and/or timed = 99/4

Multiplatform/or TBA = 265/0

Playable = 181 available to purchase

Xbox One

Exclusive = 36

Microsoft exclusive = 15

Console exclusive or timed = 31/8

Multiplatform/TBA = 264/5

Playable = 174 available to purchase

So if we tallied it up to see how many games there are in each genre for both consoles..... Wait a sec....

My main point in this whole thing is that the xbox one is severely lacking rpg's compared to the PS4 and that xbox one's library of games is starting to look like previous xboxes' game libraries. Lack of diversity. Not many RPG's. That very well may change or not. Who knows. I'm not being outragious or illogical with this.

Are you not reading what I said? I already agreed PS4 has more diversity BUT that doesn't mean the X1 lacks diversity. Fans of pretty much every notable genre are getting something to enjoy on X1. You'll even find a collection of niche and indie stuff on their marketplace.

Xbox One has the diversity its audience primarily wants. People who want JRPGs should by all means go with Playstation. MS is not looking for JRPG audience and Sony is losing the JRPG audience to other devices. That audience is primarily on phones and 3DS. Even the Vita is a massive failure in Japan and that has plenty of Japanese support.

Ultimately, you're out of touch with console gamers in the west. What you consider diversity Xbox needs has become a somewhat niche audience on western consoles. Time to accept many of us don't give a shit about what Japan is doing anymore. Fortunately, the interesting looking Japanese games are coming to Xbox.

I believe that a good part of the market is interested in switching from multiplat to exclusive ps4. I don't think there are going to be a whole lot of developers who move in that direction but we already have several annuncements of exclusive third party games in the last month.
I think MS definitely is going to focus on their own studios. I really doubt they are going to include any multiplat, or timed release exclusive multiplats in their show.
I also believe they said their show was only going to be an hour, so it could just be filled with exclusive first party content.

As I said before, my rpediction for e3 is that ms is going to somehow provide streaming access to all of their games, rather than necessitating a wait in line. If that plays out true, it would only make sense to focus on first party, so that they could have the software available for demoing.

I understood what you meant but I disagree with "that doesn't mean that the X1 lacks diversity". If MS wants xbox just be to be a western device, yes it's library is diverse enough for that but if it wants to be an appealing console to the world, it needs a more diverse library. It not just selling in one market but in many countries. MS needs to understand that. What's the point of selling a "US box" in other countries if it's only gonna cater to one country? Is it meant to have a token presence every where else except the states? Globally in the US....

I'm not really talking about just japanese games but RPG's in general. It doesn't have many compared to the PS4. Xbox has always lacked RPG's. That alone makes it's library less diverse than the any playstation console.

Just in year two. The PS360 libraries weren't great this early in their life. People forget that and only compare 8th gen to the entire 7th gen.

No. Going by that logic, Xbox 360 had literally hundreds of games not on PS3, above 70 on metacritic, which offcourse includes XBLA, 360/PC games, and exclusives. But you hardly see people calling 360 the gamers console of choice over PS3.

I learned that lists are wrong because they have clutter. System sellers are grouped with under-the-radar indies. you also lack context. Are your lists all quality games, because Id make sure they are all at least above 70 on metacritic, because counting "bad" games to inflate your list only hurts your case.

My sig is an example of the games that core gamers actually care about. Xbox One has a fighter.........a VERY rare genre to have as an exclusive, which PS4 won't have until next year with SF5. PS4 doesn't have Dead Rising 3, an open world zombie slayer.  A racing sim and a open-world arcade racer versus a arcade racer Drive Club. Also consider that Xbox One will have 2 sims out before PS4 even gets one with GT7.  Project Spark versus LBP 3 (tied in this regard). Sunset Overdrive vs Infamous. Titanfall vs Killzone. Halo MCC vs LOU (remakes). PS4 recently got Bloodborne which is a nice boost.

Just saying Xbox One is holding its own in variety and arguably has it better, at least when talking about games that define the system. Calling RPGs "severely lacking" is a gross overstatement, considering 3rd party rpg libraries are nearly identical except Bloodborne edging PS4 out.

Gross overstatement, huh?

Compare how many exclusive rpg's there are on both consoles.

Most likely, you'll mention something about the 3rd party RPG's being enough for core xbox gamers. That's not the case with the majority of the gamers.

what about fps? there is no great shooter on the xbox one, and there isnt any hope to get one in the next year(maybe they get a late port of cs:go?)

probably and when they announce that they got some 3rd party exclusive they will be bashed for it. but when sony announce theres everyone will cheer

Home consoles for the most part are a western devices. PS4 has done pretty well outside the west, but their primary focus is the west by a large margin. Even the Sony games that come out of Japan are geared towards western gamers.

Again, I would give the diversity edge to PS4. But it doesn't really matter, its NOT diversity that has given PS4 a significant sales edge. Xbox 360 did just fine with less diversity than PS3.

People aren't buying PS4 for diversity. They are buying PS4 for the same stuff they bought last gen. CoD, AC, BF, Fifa, Madden, a medicore Halo game called Desinty, a bad GTA/AC game called Watch Dogs, and ofcourse GTAV...

Sales of exclusive software is surprisingly close between PS4 and X1 considering the massive disparity in userbase. So we can't say PS4 is doing great due to Sony pumping out amazing games.

You're so concerned about diversity and a large library but there is already more on X1 than most people have the time to play. I have like 20 games in my X1 backlog in various genres and more keeps coming. Your complaints are just out of touch with the average consumer.
