PS4 needs JRPG's not just the Xbox, The genre is slowly disapearing and been replaced my niche fanservice anime games. After spening most of my gameing years playing almost only jrpg's untill mind-late ps3 ( where the genre changed imo)

I agree with this, The genre has been disappearing all together. However I think we will see a uptake soon enough, I thought south park stick of truth was a great game, maybe not what some people where looking for but it was a great RPG and took a new spin to expand the genre.

I don't think its disappearing, I think its just going mobile.

I hope that's the case for xbox fans. It really needs some new IP's to make it's library more diverse in my opinion.

Its library is already pretty diverse. Are we going to pretend its a shooterbox?

Hey, thanks for the rheatoric.

Easy..... It's library is actually not that diverse. Simply at the competition. Especially with the libraries of previous gens. JRPG's? RPG's? New IP's? Did I call it a shooterbox? No but I'll let you pretend it's a "shooterbox".

Just stop and use your head. I'd say PS4 has more diversity doesn't mean the X1 lacks diversity.

X1 has a JRPG from Square Enix (FF Type-0) and a few more coming from them. Either way its not a genre Xbox fans really care about for obvious reasons.

X1 has numerous RPGs already. Dragon Age, Witcher 3, Dark Souls 2, Lords of Fallen, Diablo 3, and others are coming. I'm not even including some shooter/rpg titles.

New IPs? Titanfall, Ryse, Ori, D4, Crimson Dragon, Lococycle, Project Spark, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Scalecound, Screamride, and others are inevitably coming. Those are new IPs MS has/is either developing, pushing, and/or funding.

So again, the X1 doesn't lack diversity and we're just in year two. The PS360 libraries weren't great this early in their life. People forget that and only compare 8th gen to the entire 7th gen.

The library by itself looks like it doesn't lack diversity until you compare it to the competion.

Compare the exclusive games and their genres in both consoles libraries. There's not much point in counting 3rd party because it's shared by both.

First, let's do a head count

PS4

Exclusive = 45

Sony Exclusive = 52

Console exclusive and/or timed = 99/4

Multiplatform/or TBA = 265/0

Playable = 181 available to purchase

Xbox One

Exclusive = 36

Microsoft exclusive = 15

Console exclusive or timed = 31/8

Multiplatform/TBA = 264/5

Playable = 174 available to purchase

So if we tallied it up to see how many games there are in each genre for both consoles..... Wait a sec....

My main point in this whole thing is that the xbox one is severely lacking rpg's compared to the PS4 and that xbox one's library of games is starting to look like previous xboxes' game libraries. Lack of diversity. Not many RPG's. That very well may change or not. Who knows. I'm not being outragious or illogical with this.

yea its disapearing from consoles and going to mobiles definatly, I cant really see them making it west like console rpg's did.

1. I agree with dernebel. Never put any people in the godly status. Spencer is doing fine. But he might have some unpleasant news for some. No one is perfect.
2. Its not a stab. But I expect MS to announce some console exclusives to be released for Windows 10 (Sunset overdrive or forza exclusive to Windows 10 etc). OS is their important money maker. So they will put some lime light to the PC division to strengthen Windows 10.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=7243857 OT I think that will be the focus, he has said it too often.

Anyways, In Phil We Trust.

I expect:

Halo 5
Crackdown 3
Gears of War HD + Gears 4 news/reveal
Forza 6
Fable Legends

That, to me, is a completely unsurprising, but still extremely great lineup of big exclusive games. Then there are other possibilities:

Scalebound
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Quantum Break
New Rare IP
Joe Montana Football (please)
BATTLETOADS

Amongst a slew of 3rd party stuff. Surely they will show some Calls of Doody BLOPS III.

No. Going by that logic, Xbox 360 had literally hundreds of games not on PS3, above 70 on metacritic, which offcourse includes XBLA, 360/PC games, and exclusives. But you hardly see people calling 360 the gamers console of choice over PS3.

I learned that lists are wrong because they have clutter. System sellers are grouped with under-the-radar indies. you also lack context. Are your lists all quality games, because Id make sure they are all at least above 70 on metacritic, because counting "bad" games to inflate your list only hurts your case.

My sig is an example of the games that core gamers actually care about. Xbox One has a fighter.........a VERY rare genre to have as an exclusive, which PS4 won't have until next year with SF5. PS4 doesn't have Dead Rising 3, an open world zombie slayer.  A racing sim and a open-world arcade racer versus a arcade racer Drive Club. Also consider that Xbox One will have 2 sims out before PS4 even gets one with GT7.  Project Spark versus LBP 3 (tied in this regard). Sunset Overdrive vs Infamous. Titanfall vs Killzone. Halo MCC vs LOU (remakes). PS4 recently got Bloodborne which is a nice boost.

Just saying Xbox One is holding its own in variety and arguably has it better, at least when talking about games that define the system. Calling RPGs "severely lacking" is a gross overstatement, considering 3rd party rpg libraries are nearly identical except Bloodborne edging PS4 out.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

PS4 has Guilty Gear Xrd, which if you are comparing to Killer Insitnct as you seem to be, has a much better metacritic score. Might as well be accurate if you are going down the list war route

I never heard of it (perhaps not surprising given my bias), but more importantly I never came across this game being discussed. It seems really under the radar, and the little sales data on this site doesn't help. The game is great, but my context is that I would only personally count games that people would most commonly say in a everyday conversation as to what best defines that console. I just don't see people listing this game as one of PS4's defining titles, it just is too niche.

Again, this is my criteria and mine alone. I personally list games above 70 on metacritic to ensure quality, and games that gamers by and large are actually playing. My point is that by-the-numbers list wars have little meaning to them. They lack context. No point in saying this console has X amount of games if 80% of those titles were not bought, despite being great games.

You know people who commonly talk about Project Spark?

Touche, that game on my sig seems to stick out. Then again LBP 3 discussion stopped almost the same time, but I see it sold enough to warrant a spot. Actually when the news about the Conker DLC caused a stir for a while. Hey, negative press is still press ;). Besides, it is Free-to-play, which I imagine has been downloaded enough, if Neverwinters downloads are anything to go by.

Project Spark wasn't bundled for holidays though.
