For as long as PlayStation consoles have existed, Sony have had studios in the North West of England. For such a long time it was Psygnosis (aka Studio Liverpool), but they added to that with Evolution Studios in recent years (Runcorn).

When they shut Studio Liverpool, that still didn't mean that their base of operations was gone in the area - they still had XDev who work with outside companies to bring their games to PS Platforms (e.g. working with Tequila Works on Rime).  XDev seemingly used to be a part of Studio Liverpool but was spun-off into its own thing at some point.

I don't see how this is a new studio. It looks like just a job listing for one of those already-existing North West studios, most likely XDev.

There was also Reflections in Newcastle. (Destruction Derby!!!) though I think they were always independent, but working for Psynosis.

I really wish they'd kept Psynosis as the brand. But I know they felt betrayed by the fact that Destruction Derby 64 and the Sega Saturn ports of WipEout etc happened.

Newcastle is North East, not North West :P
