What is it with (mostly American) Nintendo fans buddying up with the PC crowd? I've noticed it a lot in the last 2 years ever since the PS4 started dominating the news. At the start of last gen a similar phenomenon happened with the Wii60 thing.

Nintendo is not gonna go pc exclusive, it is a ridiculous "what if" scenario. Nintendo doesn't consider pc a platform, even if they did, they'd rather put their games on PS4 where they'd sell more than PC. This is simply a cold hard truth, console games sell the most on consoles.

Huh, most of the nintendo fans would do the exact opposite of what you are trying to imply (but PC fans would replace those Nintendo fans that would have left). I'm one of the few that would love Nintendo exclusivity to PC. Also Nintendo doesn't simply make "console games". They make a shit ton of things that would sell better on the PC/Mobile market. Infact nothing on the PS3/PS4 (Maybe the good old PSX/PS2 days) has proven that Nintendo games would be as successful as they have been in the past.

Add: Given no other company has the same Quality + IP ability that Nintendo does, so it might be unfair to compare Nintendo to Family Friendly Games on other consoles.

Also Add: I know wonder how much bigger Animal Crossing/Tomadachi could be on the PC.

Nope, console games sell better on consoles. Stuff like Mario 3D platformer, Xenoblade X and Zelda are games that would sell millions on Playstation because PS platforms have gotten and are getting similar games that are successful with the right amount of marketing.

If Sony markets Xenoblade like they did Bloodborne, that game would be huge on PS4.

There's only a few that I see selling more on PC than PS, maybe stuff like Brain training with 5 bucks steam sales.

Hell, even games that started out on pc sell better on consoles nowadays. Witcher 3 devs sent out PS4 review copies instead of pc or xbox, all the recent videos around youtube are from the ps4 version. And the xbox marketing campaign has to start as well.

Nintendo will not go 3rd party exclusive, if something happens, that would be going multiplatform and mobile. And if they went exclusive, going to Playstation is obvious and makes the most sense. Both are Japanese companies sharing lots of history.

If they went PC exclusive, they'd die as a company. No mom is getting her child a gaming rig and a steam account to play Mario.

You realize more families have computers than gaming devices right? Nintendo's hardware has always been drastically behind even mid ranged pc's. Chances are computers from 2009 could probably play Wii U games just fine. This would eliminate an ADDITIONAL cost, not make them purchase a computer (as they already would have one).

1) I am a massive Nintendo fanboy but I love my pc because of steam, primarily. It allows me to play some of those thousands of multiplatforms games that I wouldn't have access to on Nintendo's devices and I don't have to buy a $400-500 console to play them (and steam game prices are super low, more often, as well).

2) The whole point of this thread wasn't supposed to be realistic, therefore that statement is ridiculous. I even titled the thread an "absurd hypothetical."

Only Xenoblade, Metroid and Zelda I would give you as a sure thing. Nothing points to Mario 3D platformer doing better, namely when a lot of those kickstarter spirtual successor platformers that are showing up are being successful because of PC audience. Things like Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Mario Party and Mario Kart (The actual games that sell a lot for Nintendo) would do better on the mobile market than all three namely if it is smartly priced.

Your witcher example isn't the best, until you actually get Witcher 3 sales data.

Given I don't think they would actually be exclusive to any set platform, do you? (Under the assumption they went third party).

Same as SEGA? Nope. I want Nintendo to retain what makes them unique.

The controllers make them unique and (now) miiverse. The hardware itself doesn't make them unique. Their games and controllers do, which is why I said they could continue to make new controllers that work with their steam Nintendo games.

And none of us should fool ourselves about SEGA. They were not making the right decisions left and right and still arent. Their popular ip's aren't popular anymore (based on sales) because of how terribly they've made them as of late (Total War being an exception). I seriously doubt Nintendo will ever NOT be good at making their games (they probably blow everyone out of the water for overall metacritic score averaged out from all their games).

Bye Bye consoles, Nintendo is the only thing that keeps me playing consoles instead of only PC.

I already do play a fair bit on PC but I still buy consoles for exclusives and/or certain multiplats so I wouldn't see that changing if Nintendo decided to go PC only.

You sound as if Nintendo fans struck a nerve with you or something, especially given the last part with PS4.

I think you'll find if they went with PC they'd still sell quite well regardless of what you think of the PS4 and I don't think Nintendo would buddy up with Sony tbh.

I honestly don't get why you're in a huff that PC/Nitnendo fans can be buddies, you make it sound like they should both be enemies.

OT: My main is PC is I don't think there would be much of a change ebsides saving a few £100's every few years, would be good though if Nintendo still kept up with their quality releases, a mrge like that would give them a nice edge over the competition.
