Britain is too “passively tolerant” and should not leave people to live their lives as they please just because they obey the law, David Cameron has said. 

At the National Security Council today Mr Cameron unveiled a series of measures that he said would crack down on people holding minority “extremist” views that differed from Britain’s consensus.

“For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone',” he said. 

The package of powers, first proposed in March, would allow courts to force a person to send their tweets and Facebook posts to the police for approval.

Ofcom will have new powers to pressurise broadcasters which show content deemed “extreme” while the Charity Commission would be mandated to scrutinise charities who “misappropriate funds”.

Everything I've heard about British politics lately has been a shit show. This guy seems to be a big part of that.

He's saying what every single "statesman" wants to say. Officials of the state want to control your life for you. Not a big surprise. It's disgusting, certainly, but not surprising. Hopefully we have another "enlightenment" on the west, apparently for the last few centuries we've been deconstructing the first one.

The Tories for you, Zero hour contracts, incentives only for the rich, goals for a more totalitarian style control on rights including snooping through your emails, NHS in shambles, Benefit cuts, poor get swept under the rug and who can forget George "The Neo Muppet" Osbourne. Right now we're the de facto laughing stock of the world because these clowns won a majority and we're stuck with them for another 5 years, even the Queen looked like she was going to face/palm when Cameron was reinstated, you could even read the expression on her face "Oh not this prat again".

The only positive to come from the Tories is Boris Johnson and the are questions about whether the man is just entertaining the public with his character or genuinely insane.
