What is Splatoon?

This thread gave me cancer. I would say more, but I don't want to get banned.

Edit: Let's just say that if anyone here thought people claimed that Splatoon was original because of paintball, you're sorely mistaken. Splatoon did not invent paintball, and neither did...Color Wars, or whatever the fuck it's called. Neither of them invented territorial battles. If you're trying to use this as ammo against Nintendo, then that is just sad. Just like your argument. Keep grasping at straws, it just says more about you.

Some touchy feelings here in this thread. Everyone copies someone else. No need to get bras and underoos in a bunch. Like someone said earlier, PlayStation All Star Brawl or whatever it's called was almost a complete carbon copy of Smash Bros. That was accepted. Even from Sony fans. So now that Nintendo took a concept from Color Wars, it's not copying?!

Or maybe some of you will accept the term "adopted" better. Either way, it's not an original idea...and that's fine. I'm sure it will still be a great game.

It's a 3rd person shooter in which teams use paint guns to color an arena in the color of their team, at the end of the match the team who has colored most of the map in its color wins, if you can't gather that from that trailer then I really don't think that we've watched the same video.

Y'know Gooch actually asked for this thread to be locked nine hours ago. While he's been away however the conversation has continued and it's been an interesting read. So I'm left with a conundrum. I think that Gooch would probably want the thread to stay open if he knew it was going in an interesting direction, so do I follow the word of the OT or what I think his intentions are?
