You really think the PS3 will reach ~90M?

Not a chance. It won't reach 50.

I will stay between your 2 numbers: PS3 will sell at least 70M consoles

PSN ID: krik

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M

When I think about it PS2/4 was harsh, its more likely to be around 40M all up and the PS2 isn't going to reach 160.

PS3 selling 70M? Still can't see it. At all.

Sony wants the PS3 to last ten years so if the PS3 sells 8 million units a year it will at least have sold 80 million PS3 and i believe that figure to be on the low side

Systems I own (Games)

Sega: Dreamcast (40) , Saturn (25), Genesis (50), Masters System (10), Game Gear (20)

Sony: PS1 (8), PS2 (60) , PS3 (5), PSP (12)

Atari: 2600 (18) , 7800 (10), Lynx (10)

For gods sakes, the PS3 is not going to be moving 8 million consoles in 8 years time. That is the single most retarded statement I have ever read here. Where's Captain Pickard when you need him?

Got these numbers of vgchartz from March of Last year to March of This year th PS3 has Sold close to 9 million units. Sony has repeatedly stated that they want the PS3 to Last 10 years. This is when at least for me the only real notable game that came out for it was Devil May Cry 4. Many of the most hyped PS3 Games after Metal Gear Solid 4 don't come out until this fall or Winter. I see no problem taking a lower number then the actual sales data for PS3 for the past year and spreading it out for another nine years

Console PS3
Total 8,924,441

Because its stupid. no console lasts that long. The ten year plan is a farce as even if Sony supports the PS3 for ten years it doesn't mean it will sell for ten years.

In the last 4 years of the PS3's life people will be heading over to the PS4 to be released November 2012. That is in celebration of PS3's 6 years after launch.
Previously the PS2 was launched 5 years into the PSX'x life. The PS3 released 6 years into the PS2's life.

My estimations for the generation are:

Xbox 360: 35-50 mil.
PS3: 60-80 mil.
Wii: 100-120 mil.

I don't think the PS3 will do the same as PS2, but it won't be a complete failure like many seem to think. I think Nintendo will sell a crapload of consoles during its 5 year lifespan, but once a new generation Nintendo console is out, people will swiftly move from the Wii to the next console. Although PS3 won't sell as much during the 5 years, I think it will continue to sell after the generation is done for quite a while like the last couple of PlayStation consoles.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Its really not that hard to see. Yes the PS3 will sell well over 100million in it's life time and anyone thinking the wii will out sell the NES or PS1 is delusional, especially if you think it'll sell past the PS1.

*Sigh* the PS1 did and the PS2 is poised to do the same even easier than the PS1 did. PS1 in production from 1995 to 2005. PS2 from 2000 to *2010 (we're in 2008 and the console still has games coming out for it. You really think it can't keep going for atleast another 2years?)
