Well shit that Link vs Falcon battle was something else.

@plat The testfire was fun, it was pretty much splatoon from the bit I've played of it, just better looking and with lots disconnects... lots more. I enjoyed it, made it more of a definite purchase,

Dude. Top 8 with only 1 Top 10 player. Link, Falcon, DK and Ryu in Top 8. What is this.

It's Smash 4 being strategically balanced, those rankings are nothing but numbers on a paper at this point as the so called elite got shown whose yard it is.

Man, I remember back in 2014 and early 2015 when everyone was giving Smash 4 crap in the competitive scene, how it would never measure up to Melee, how they should stop bringing it to tournaments cause no one wanted to see that they wanted Melee, how that one group of crappy Melee fanboys booed the Smash 4 champion when he got his trophy cause "Melee is better".

Well, times sure have changed :P

That 2nd place can get stuff as good as a Crazy 8 while 10th can get a single Green Shell is laughably imbalanced. This is unfortunately possible because the items you can get are heavily based on how far away you are from the next racer in front of you, rather than what position you're in.

I don't really wanna debate Mario Kart right now, so I didn't even bother reading your post (I'm being a dick, I know, I'm sorry), but this is wrong. The games gives everyone items based on their distance towards the 1st place.

I don't have the Switch so I wasn't able to participate in the Splatoon 2 Testfire, so I would like to hear your thoughts for people who did

I played it on a friend's Switch, and loved it. It's awesome. It's just like Splatoon, except it's more fun, seems to have better stages (the 2 on the testfire at least were great), the soundtrack's amazing, the graphics are prettier and the game just emanates hype in a way it's hard to describe.

I also love how everything seems to have been nerfed as a whole. Every weapon seems to do less damage, it feels like the range on them has been slightly nerfed at least (at least the Splattershot felt more limited in range to me), and the specials are much, much less game-changing. I for one love this because I always thought Splatoon was guilty of being "balanced because everything is OP", so I had a lot more fun in Splatoon 2, being able to escape what seemed to be certain death and having to work much harder to get kills too.

I did see a lot of nerfs with the specials so it does sound like overall nerfing could be a decent strategy to allow people to spend more time playing than waiting for a respawn :p

Ironic thing is Melee is looking like it's headed to be relegated to what it was before a game only showing up at Smash specific tournaments, It'll still be around for years at those particular tournaments but as far as the likes of Evo and such goes S4 has overtaken it.

Strategic balance beats out flash aggression as tournaments goes, Melee is entertaining but the is problem when people tune into a tournament and already know which characters will be in top 8. Link made top 3 in the S4 tournament yesterday battling Falcon, last Evo Megaman made it to grand final, Marth won a recent major tournament etc... S4 provides a wider range of moments that aren't reliant on being flash tbh.

Oh the classic 2d mode for the 3DS is pretty neat

I'm assuming that the Switch version will be just like the PS4, hopefully..

You don't want to debate yet you started this and are continuing to debate, well okay then!

If that were true then the example I gave wouldn't be possible.
