Forums - PC Discussion - Steam Reaches New Concurrent User Record

On Sunday, May 10, a record 9.5 million people were logged into Steam at the same time. That's a new concurrent user number for the platform, and is up from 9 million just a couple months ago.

The news comes by way of Steam's "Stats" page, which reveals that the milestone was achieved in the early afternoon PDT on May 10.

Valve's free-to-play DOTA 2 is currently the most popular game on Steam, based on unique users, followed by Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Grand Theft Auto V.

Steam is a juggernaut in the PC gaming space. It currently has more than 125 million registered accounts.

They're only gonna keep setting new records. (At least for quite a while.)

I think we'll see above 10m during summer sales.

Nice to see Steam thriving and growing every single day.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Counter Strike is just amazing when you think about its long-term popularity. Also, Skyrim keeps rockin.

I remember at the start of the 7th Generation how much people thought PC gaming was going to decline as consoles got PC exclusive after exclusive. Now look how much it has flourished. :)

The funny part is PC is still getting exclusives of it's own and now games that were once considered console exclusive, but as someone will no doubt point out PC gaming is only popular because of F2P games even though the list only has 3 and the rest are all games you have to pay for like everyone else =P.

Still I'm stumped that CS is still this popular, it's becoming more popular as an e-sport over the likes of Starcraft II and over most shooters in general.

Great to see Skyrim is still popular years later along with Garry's Mod.
