Forums - General Discussion - Pele or Maradona? Who is the king of Football?

Well, he got what he deserved for using it. The case is we were talking about who was a better player, I already said, Maradona.

Its ok to criticize, but recognize he wasn't/isnt/will not be the only human doing so. And I agree with you, he wasnt a fair player n some part of his career.

But he still is one of the greatest players.

well theres no point in aruing with u really.

its pretty much impossible to convince an argentine that pele is god.

And he kissed Caniggia on the lips

The reason that in the past players could take on a whole team was very much to do with the player themselves, although it is mainly to do with a lack of organisation of the teams and very poor defending.

If you compare any footage of pele, maradonna or eusebio to the highlights of zinedine zedane for example, you will find in terms of skill power and direction zidane will be far superior.(there are a number of factors involved in this though.)

The organisation of the teams is the reason why for instance in the EPL, you will not really see players scoring silly amounts of goals, and also the increase of use of the through ball.
so really over all out of the three id say pele! Although i do not consider him to be the greatest ever.

Endure. In enduring, grow strong.

I also would like to state that Zinedine Zidane*^^ Is also the best footballer ever regarding the use of the head. see Marco Materazzi worldcup final 2006.

@ CaptainPrefrences )

what many people just don't get - England lost that game, in which Maradona used the "hand of god", 0-2 and the second goal by Maradona in that game was one of the greatest goals in football history (it was choosen as the "worldcup goal of the century" in 2002)

I think Maradona was the better footballer(technique/skill with the ball), but Pelè a better teamplayer and better leader of the team (well, Pelè in my eyes always had a better team to support him aswell).

Neither - lol. George Best was the greatest footballer of all time. George Best was the greatest Manchester United player of all time - shame he passed away two years ago.
Pele = second best player of all time.

Hmm its tough, Cantona will always be up there in my list of best united players, rivalling best definately.

C. Ronaldo will give best's legacy a run for its money.

Lee Sharp kick their ass

Bruce Grobbelaar! What a legend :P
