I heard it has serious control issues on the X1 hopefully they patch those up by the time I get it since I'm not planning of getting a PS4 anytime soon. Anyway I'm more then likely will not get it before Forza Motorsports 6 by then most of the problems and bugs should be patched and hopefully it will have some more tracks and cars that I'm interested in.

It's not all that great on ps4 either. I'll mess around with the deadzones and sensitivity tonight. The default settings are way to unresponsive and twitchy to make small course corrections at high speed.

Late but fun fact, its the same guys behind NFS Shift that made Project CARS

That explains the input lag.

The most annoying thing for me is the L1 R1 gear shifts as the defaults, very annoying!

Wouldn't affect me even though I play a lot of race games I always play with automatic shifting.  The only benefit for me knowing how to shift manually is that it would be very benefical in online drag races.

Wasnt project cars a kickstarter or something? It started as an indie endeavor im pretty sure. Seeing how far its come, its an amazing result.
This wasnt a game developed by a big publisher. Namco is simply publishing the game, but the game has been developed independantly. Its amazing its this good tbh.

Even that review points out its main fault it really doesn't control well with a controller its meant to be played with a wheel.

Before we go any further: you can play Project CARS with a controller, but you really shouldn't.

As already mentioned, this is a game made for steering wheels, and I've already read about controller-related frustration from European PS4 and Xbox One players (who got Project CARS last week, as did PC gamers).

If the thought of having a steering wheel in your living room isn’t one you’d ever entertain, Project CARS probably isn’t the game for you.

I don't have a wheel, not comfortable for couch racing, never needed one either in over 100 racing games.
It's a bit better after setting the deadzone to 0 (default is 15, no need for that with the ds4) There's still a tendency to overshoot even minor corrections due to the input lag. 60 fps is wasted on this game because of that. Maybe lower steering sensitivity will help. Kinda annoying that none of the settings are explained. Default sensitivity is 50, is it linear, does it accelerate, no clue.

The AI is decent, too; there are none of the "pubbie on Red Bull" first corner antics of Forza’s Drivatars, nor the “I’m sticking to this line like I’m a train” automata of GT.
Erm no, passing me on the outside through a sand trap to then re-enter the track and crash into me, I don't call that decent AI.

9 pages of people suggesting different settings... It seems every car needs its own specific controller settings :/
I switched to console gaming to be rid of this setup bullshit. Car tuning sure, but controller tuning, wtf.
Unfortunately the devs have a long list of bugs to fix before getting to improvingthe controller input. Controller input feels like a placeholder atm.

I tried a few controller settings yet the biggest problem is still the lack of feedback from the tires. You float around the track and suddenly lose traction without warning and no chance to catch or correct it. It really doesn't encourage driving on the edge. At least restarts are fast. Meanwhile the AI happily cuts through grass and gravel invalidating their lap times every lap, except their lap times still count. Don't follow the AI driving line as you'll get an off-track penalty...

Even some people that use a wheel have issues with controlling the cars in this game.  This guy has the PS4 version and he is using a wheel.

Haha. I'm doing a lot better than that yet it feels more like you're disarming a bomb than driving a car. Go very slow and handle the analog sticks with a feather like touch. And once the car starts skidding, just restart the race, there's no catching it.
The career isn't very good so far. It seems I have to do another full year of kart races before moving on to a real car. 250cc karts now. At least there are invitational events to break up the monotony.
