I don't get how this is being spun as a bad thing

Because it obviously means one of two things.

1. The Mario Kart series will see a massive decline in quality

2. Mario Kart will become exclusive to mobile

I seriously hope that's sarcasm.

Sounds more like a de-motion to me.

^ same.

unfair... MK8 best MK to date.... reward? have fun makeing mobile games :P

More money for the company, especially when mobile games start to do so = More possibilities for the guy to see a salary increase. Not bad for him, I guess.

Rather, I think it could be bad for us, as consumers and ones that demand so much from games, but not because of him, rather because this could be the start of a trend among Nintendo developers.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Yep, but in all honesty, I'm really excited to see what Nintendo is like 5 years from now with all the diversifying they are starting to do.

-NX "family" of devices

-Amiibo figurines/cards

-Quality of Life products

-Mobile games/apps

-Theme Park Attractions

-IP licensing (films/series)

If executed properly Nintendo could return to DS/Wii level profits or even more.

I actually predicted this general direction last year.

I mean, I could have never predicted Amiibos or mobile games, (though I did predict a massive mobile app that would connect all Nintendo's platforms and toys to life in general, not that those were really bold predictions to make) but really, who could have?

It's all really exciting. I mean, Amiibos are still bullshit, but no company is perfect.

Now all Nintendo need to do is invest in western first party studios and buy Capcom and I basically perfectly predicted Neo Nintendo.

Konno is more than just a "Mario Kart producer".

He's directed/assistant directed games like Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Sim City, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, and Luigi's Mansion earlier in his career before settling in as producer of the Mario Kart franchise. He also produced Nintendogs.

They're getting ready to overthrow Angry Birds GO. :)

well finally Nintendo back to business.

An experienced developer keeping oversight is good news. It means Nintendo will take this Mobile adventure seriously.
