Hideki Konno, who has worked on several Mario Kart games, has been promoted by Nintendo to oversee the development of mobile games.

I'm 99% certain he applied for the position and is both willing and thrilled to be on this.

That said, hopefully he still at least gets some say with future Mario Karts.

Assuming head of mobile development means it's fulltime and not something like Shinya Takahashi taking on head of Development Administration & Support Division in addition to head of Nintendo Software Planning and Development, it probably means Yasuyuki Oyagi is the new head of EAD Group 1. Hideki Konno leaving the Mario Kart games probably isn't going to affect them. The rest of the staff has remained fairly constant with Oyagi being co-producer for the last two and Director of Nintendogs+Cats, Mario Kart Wii and DS
