Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation PLUS members received over $1,300 in games in the past year!

yeah it really is worth it...

i've been a member since january and of all the games i've gotten free i really enjoyed transister, infamous first light and most recently guacamelee

collectively these games would cost me around $50 are higher and that's not counting the games i didn't really fancy or haven't even started playing yet ( like abe new and tasty )

If I rent a game for 2 dollars do I get 60 in value? I dont think so.

If I rent a van/transporter (for moving or whatever) and I pay 200€ do I get 50k in value for 200€? I dont think so.

Also just because RRP is 60 does not mean I get 60 in value. And especially digital prices = value of a product because I have yet to see a digital game that is cheaper than the retail version I can buy in stores. *

Btw
Yesterday I talked to the MS customer service and they offered me 1month of gold for a 400MS Point code that was invalid. They said "you get 35€ in value" thats bullshit lol. I do get 4€ in value at most becaue the 1 month gold is exactly worth 4€ on G2A or whatever.

* For example Nintendo wants 50€? or so for Splatoon Eshop edition.  I bought the limited edition including the Amiibo for 35€.  WTF is this?

It's so worth it. I'm all about physical copies of games but for the price it's awesome. I mean really $5 a month is a total steal and discounts on just about every other game on there. You could get ps plus and just with the discounts on games you can save money.

It's hard to compare a simple one-two night rental to a "it's yours until you stop being a member" type service. Although I do treat many of these short games as rentals (100%ing them within a few days), some linger on my systems much longer and reside amongs the titles I've paid for. I sunk about 40 hours into Rogue Legacy before 100%ing it, and that's something you can't do with a $2 rental.

And that's before getting into the idea of paying $20 for a digital game, 100%ing it in a few days, and then never looking at it again.  Yeah, you may as well have rented it and not given the developers any money for their work, but if it's digital only there really wasn't an option for that in the first place.

That said, I dislike calling these games "free," and I think the annual "OMG, PS+ provided about $1000 worth of content last year!" articles are somewhat disingenous fanboy ammo.

If someone is not interested in a game and was never going to consider purchasing it, like it or not, its 'worth' nothing to that person.

I've played very few PS+ games over the last year. The only reason im still subscribed is because I've got a few good PS+ games from 2-3 years ago which I plan on playing.... and the fact that you need it to play online on PS4 now.

I hope it returns to its golden age when the only people complaining were the ones who already had the games.

Wish you could actually own the games.

Awesome value and an awesome service. PS Plus kicks ass every year with big discounts and games. It was so good that MS had to copy it and give out "free" games as well.

yea, they should add the possibility to buy games you got access to via PS+ before
