I don't see that. Most people period prefer AAA. And from what I've seen VGC users tend to prefer AAA as well.

Besides, do indies (the vast majority of which will be crap even if there are a few that are good) really need a conference?

Jeez dude..... Most indies on console are good, now if you want to bring Steam in to this then yes, most indies do suck. Steam gets so much crapware

That's debatable, there's a lot of crap indies on consoles as well. Steam's more of an open platform, so of course it's going to get more shovelware.

Maybe they think E3 and Gamescom is too close to each other. Wish they would move E3 back to May

Because nobody plays Minecraft right? :)

Because the popularity of one thing determines the greatness of a whole category?

I think Steam needs some kind of quality filter, its good that it is open (to a degree) but a lot of stuff they let on is just outrageous. That is the reason iOS software tends to be better than Android software. (I am not in either camp, despise them both)

Is MS gonna be at Gamescom? If not, I actually think it makes some sense for Sony to show the French some love after they were just at Gamescom last year.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

IIRC Gamescom last year was nothing but Indies. Yeah... no where near E3.

Your point?

Indies > AAA

Most people here enjoy indies....

Dude,

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Destiny
Bloodborne
Shadow of Mordor
LittleBigPlanet 3
P.T.
Far Cry 4
Until Dawn
Driveclub
Tearaway Unfolded
Alienation
WiLD
Rime
Hellblade
The Tomorrow Children

Yeah, Sony's Gamescom conference was shit .. -___-

Gamescom was the best event of last year
As long as the content is similar I don't care when or where they do it
Can't be worse than E3, that much is certain

Considering how underwhelming Gamecom is every year this isn't really a bad thing.

So much this...

Sony's Gamescom conference last year was a lot of indies if I remember correctly. Not really worth the conference IMO.

Last years Gamescom was awesome. The tomorrow Children revealed, Until Dawn re-revealed, great Rime and Bloodborne trailer, Hellblade, P.T., WILD...definitely worth the conference.

OT: Considering that I'll be busy writing my Bachelor paper during Gamescom I should probably say that this doesn't bother me, but it does, I don't wanna wait till late October for more gaming goodness, you can't skip the biggest public games conference in the world Sony!! (Assuming this is true of course)

I disagree with you on so many levels on that one...... E3 is the best but Gamescom is not far behind

Ok last year Gamescom was not that good, I agree. But overall Gamescom is as big as E3 imo.
