Forums - Gaming Discussion - EA Reveals 80 Percent of Battlefield Hardline Sales Were For PS4/Xbox One

Electronic Arts has revealed sales figures surrounding its cops-and-robbers themed first-person shooter,Battlefield Hardline. Speaking at an earnings call earlier today, EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said, "approximately four out of every five copies of Battlefield Hardline sold for consoles were for Xbox One or PlayStation 4," and dubbed the transition to the current generation of consoles as "much faster growth than in previous generations."

EA chief executive officer Andrew Wilson also added that the company expected close to 50 million current-generation consoles to be sold by the end of the year. Sony recently announced that it had shipped22.3 million PlayStation 4 units for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2015. By comparison, Microsoft revealed in November last year that the company had shipped a total of 10 million console units, although this figure combines figures for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles.

Last generation is dying very quickly . I expected it to at least remain somewhat stable by being a cheaper alternative to this current generation but that doesn't seem to be happening.

Why the sad face? Last gen dying is a good thing, means more people are in the process of switching to the new gen.

With CoD being only on current gen, last-gen consoles will die even faster by the end of the year. EA Sports annual titles will go cross-gen this year, but there is a good chance only FIFA survives in the coming years.

So much memories though, especially 2010-2011 & 2012. I don't want to see them die . At least they will have died in peace and now new memories can be formed with new consoles.

I think that is the problem. They are not cheap. PS3 bundle for $250 or XB1 bundle for $50-$100 more?

The thirst is real, I guess.

Title should clarify that it was only 80% of console sales and that that figure doesn't include PC sales of the game.

Does it matter tho? Even if u added pc sales it wouldn't change much. Seeing ~60K people peak on consoles vs 5k on PC

Has somebody expected something different?

So it's only 75% for PS4/X1?
