Sometimes in comments from all kind of social media people ask whether to buy a certain game or not. Obviously they receive quick positive or negative replies and maybe influencing the decision of the person. I was just wondering whether people really buy a game based upon the opinion of a random person on the internet.

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I know I have at least once, but I can't recall who did, nor what game it was.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Nope.

And probably never will.

Yeah, I have bought a few games over years based on recommendations from this forum. I even made a thread about it.

I bought Zack and Wiki solely based off of IGN's hype train for the game, coupled with the fact that there was no big Wii releases between Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy so I was starved for games at the time.

It was an OK title, never finished it, but it definitely did not live up to the constant hype that IGN had been giving the game for months as one of, if not the best, original 3rd party Wii title.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I was in an IRC one day and was thinking of getting a new game and asked. People said RDR and I was grateful as it turned out to be one of my favourite games of the PS3.

I think we're a bad target market for your question though as I imagine a lot of us here would already know about practically every game coming up and would pretty much be the ones making recommendations.

I checked out a few games (looked at youtube vids/trailers) because of suggestions but never bought a based just on another's opinion.

Not really, but I always check reviews, feedback, trailers, and gameplay videos on the internet before ordering a game... So I guess the internet does influence my purchases.

I only remember two instances. Wright advised me of Alpha Protocol and recommended me Dead Rising 2. Can't complain about the first, but after ignoring Dead Rising 2 for a long time, I'm glad he recommended it to me because I ended up really, really liking the game.
