Forums - PC Discussion - [Confirmed] Valve has no oversight for its own platform

Does this not go under "free speech" or whatever? This game is disgusting, but since Americans love free speech and freedom and all that aren't these guys free to say or do what they want too?

Valve is a private company, they reserve the right to refuse selling a game through their platform. Removing a game for having offensive content on Steam is not censorship and the developers are still free release it elsewhere.

OT: I was gonna say Steam needs to improve its quality control, but having actual quality control is a prerequisite for improving it. Indie games are a blessing and their success stories tell us that maybe the gaming industry is healthier than we make it out to be. Though some of these early access games are worse than the average flash game based on their quality and are certainly a lot less polished.

I think this is pretty much confirmation that there is simply no control over what goes on the platform and what not. Steam has become a garbage platform of self publishing indies with no oversight from the platform holders.

Valve's apathy for their own platform really is infuriating.

Did he just make a gay joke in the video? :-p

As a gay man... I want to see the person who made this never meet another bill in their life...

But its hard to be 100% convinced that they're not entitled to have their life fall apart and their fucked up dick-baggery preserved for all time.

Self-policing works too. Just report the game and move on. I don't know what the big deal is.

I don't know either. I mean why would anyone try to prevent bad things when it's so much easier just to react to bad things after they happened.

That's why I uninstalled my anti virus a long time ago.

Yeah, I get that. I'm more referring to people's reactions of wanting this to go down. It just seems to me that people are so inconsistent with what's okay and not okay in free speech.

Or maybe people don't give a shit about the content of the game and are disappointed in Valve that they have apparently no quality standards when it comes to the games they're selling.

And yes, inaction in this case means that they want garbage on their platform.

This must be stemming from the "draw Mohammad day" debacle

What if there is garbage on their platform? don't buy it?

I think Ass creed is garbage too. I am not gonna ask them to remove it because the game has no redeeming quality whatsoever.

This game should be reported and removed for its content. The makers should go find another host for their disgusting game.

Don't worry. Gabe will soon come out and say that they wont allow that kind of thing and everyone will love them again...
