Forums - Gaming Discussion - I want to play the Arkham games before Arkham Knight... should I skip Origins?

Yeah you should get Origins. Despite the initial hate the game is pretty fun because the gameplay is just like the other games although some might see that as a deterrent. I like to think of it as a prequel to the Arkham games.

Anyways yeah you should try it.

Make it easy on yourself: Youtube the cutscenes.

The story, not the gameplay, was always its strongest asset.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Play it, but beware of game-breaking bugs. Apparently they didn't feel the need to fix the problem where Batman fell through the floor

If you just go straight to the main missions one after the other in Arkham Origins you can finish the game as fast as playing The Order.

I assume when you said Arkham Origins the first time, you meant Arkham Asylum.

I had a lot of fun with the game when it came out, so I say get it. I know there were some glitches (I cannot recall what they were, nor do I know if they were fixed), and the game play isn't as groundbreaking as it was in Arkham City, but there is still a LOT to love here. More of the same isn't always a bad thing, in this case especially.

What I liked about this game was how it opened up a large portion of Gotham City for the first time, rather than locking you up in a prison/prison city. So there are civilians to save, corrupt cops to beat up, etc. Arkham Knight looks like it'll blow that stuff out of the water, but it's not out yet. ;)

As for the Wii U versions....I bought both games on Wii U. As far as I remember Arkham Origins just includes the usual Wii U features. Arkham City is essentially a "Game of the Year" edition, so it includes all of the DLC and extras from the other version of the game on the disc, including "Harley Quinn's Revenge", which was a little sequel story to Arkham City. If you didn't bother with the DLC in the original (like me) it's worth picking up on top of the usual Wii U features.

If you want to play it go for it. It's not necessary, but if you want more to play it's a solid game.

you should certainly play it. As far as story goes it does a pretty good job at being a prequel.

No reason to leave it out really.

I liked it a ton. Don't know where the hate comes from besides it being more of the same

Nah go ahead and play it, its $20, but play it first, it surely the least of the 3. I did however enjoy the Mr. freeze dlc

Currently doing what OP is doing and am about half way through Origins. Seeing as I bought it for 5 euro it's pretty great in my eyes. Doesn't do anything much different from City so I can understand why people who bought it when new were displeased.

There are annoying bugs but the PC version is playing well for me so far.
