Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Are Gamers So Easily Hyped Up?

So far, your responses to people's answers to your original question have been subpar and borderline ridiculous. Are you simply trying to get a reaction out of people? Or trying to tell people what they can and cannot be excited for? Like someone said earlier, I really don't understand the point of this thread.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

So you agree "Yooka-laylee" should be hyped because it's made by Rare and is a spiritual successor to it. Because of that it should be hyped enough to be given more than 5 times the funds asked for. It's okay that people mention that they are hyped for the game because of these facts but fail to mention the stuff that the actual game has which make it look appealing.

Also next time instead of saying that my responses were sub-par, quote at least one of my replies.

At the end of the day the thread is here to show that Hype will be gamings downfall.

HYPE has lead to the popularity of Pre-orders.

HYPE has lead us to be okay with companies slowly screwing us over.

HYPE will just continue working against our favour until one day the whole industry will crash.

HYPE is why gaming is becoming more expensive every year.

HYPE will lead companies to release more broken games so as to feed the masses.

HYPE!!!

I would rather hype for new games rather than sequels.

Other than that, people these days easily get hyped since they have their eyes glued to tv/phone screens. If people are exposed to something long enough they will begin to enjoy it. For example there are so many shit songs on radio, but since they are played so often and at clubs people begin to enjoy it.

The herd mentality.

I used to be hyped up for games when i was 4-18, but now? i see all games repeating itself over and over in terms of both gameplay, story and art-work. It's hard to be a gamer today.

I honestly get hyped for some new IP's. Why? Mainly because I'm sick of playing annual sequels, remasters, bad sequels and glitched up games. Some series are just losing their magic or too much was changed. I just want something different where I have no expectations of it and it's fun.

Because I love gaming as a hobby. I'd much rather be enthusiastic and hyped up about a game I find promising than be a cynical douche. Even if the game doesn't deliver in the end, I'd much rather be optimistic about it and have hope that it will deliver than be cynical just because the game may not deliver.

Because it's fun to be excited! Hype is all part of the experience!

Gamers are not easily hyped up. It is actually very hard to accomplish that because you need to deliver proven AAA quality several times in order to get your fans hyped up. Monolith Soft, the former Rareware developers and the Unchartered devs are known to put out high quality games and have proven their ability many times.
