Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Battletoads in Shovel Knight!

Am I the only one that never thought Battletoads was any good? I thought it felt clumsy and sub par as a beat em up. I am excited about Shovel knight though, might download it soon enough :).

@stage, i think the reason battletoads was put into shovelknight and conker into project sparks is because microsoft is testing to see what the reaction and downloads of such are, and if it meets the results then the games will come. I also believe the reason killer instinct was made the way it was, was because the franchise was left alone for too long and wanted to take a lower budget approach to it and also because except for a few fighters, the genre is not as big as it used to be. I think if the genre's those games are in where more in the now, then all those games would be seeing a retail release ( ki already has this yes, but the game would be complete already )and more of rare's glory days would be making a comeback as well.

^Why would MS see the reaction? They already saw it with live and reloaded/Kameo/Banjo-Kazooie nuts and bold + BK/BT port on XBLA.

You're not alone. It's mostly remembered for being stupid difficult and part of peoples childhood. Even when people bring it up it's not often that they say they actually liked it. I don't think very many people did.

If Microsoft announce a battletoads game over a proper banjo kazooie one I'll be horribly confused.

During Xbox boss Phil Spencer's Game Developers Conference panel today, it was announced that the Battletoads will be making an appearance in the Xbox One version of Shovel Knight--and it was teased that that is not all that awaits the long-dormant franchise.

At the end of a Shovel Knight trailer showing off universal app support, the Battletoads made a brief appearance, teasing their inclusion in a future update to the platforming game. This was followed by ID@Xbox head Chris Carla making a quip about where we might see the Battletoads next.

I understand, but the game that popped up after Phil Spencers T-Shirt hintat the Windows 10 event was Battletoads. Perhaps somewhere down the line, but what I am expecting from Rare at E3 is their new IP which has been reported, as we as Scalebound from Platinum. I am definitely waiting for Gears news as well. Microsofts E3 will be stacked if the AAA hits keep coming.

I agree.  New Ip announcement from Rare.  I know theyre working on 2-3 games, but im not sure what will be revealed to be honest, but id place a bet on a new ip.

I can imagine more Rare Ip will be outsourced which im fine with tbh
